Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Shorterez.
Hi Jon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My wife and I launched Radical Remnant Ministries in the fall of 2017 with a mission to transform our community and surrounding areas one heart at a time. We’ve always had a passion for spiritual and mental transformation through the sharing of God’s love and message of salvation. Over time our vision has expanded feeding the hungry, providing clothes to those in need, and equipping others to do the same.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Launching a church has it’s many obstacles. We started just before the COVID pandemic. So, navigating through that while building systems and structure for our church family was a huge hurdle. Church plants already have struggles to overcome but thankfully we were able to use social media and other digital platforms to keep our growing community connected. The next major struggle we face now is locating and securing a facility to meet our ministry needs. However, we are confident that we will overcome this as well.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As Pastors, my wife and I have create a premarital counseling program to increase the success in Christian Marriages. We use proven Biblical tools and strategies to coach couples before and during their marriage. It’s a 6 week program that focuses on communication, finance, Sex, family history, and transitional advice to enhance the marriage experience. We believe healthy marriages create healthy families and communities.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those just planting or launching a ministry, I’d advise to build slow. Start with a team and ensure that your vision and mission is clear, realistic, and relevant. Also, be flexible and willing to pivot when certain methods that you are comfortable with doesn’t work. It doesn’t mean you fail in the mission it may just require a different method. Lastly, enjoy the journey and remember your “why”.
