Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley Shaw.
Hi Kelley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my jewelry design business in 2005 and am celebrating 20 years this year. I’m a creative person and since retiring from the general work force, I’ve been a designer, painter and author of two books. One is a prescriptive memoir about alternative healing methods and my latest book, a romantasy (romance/fantasy), was published in India earlier this year. I traveled there with two guests in March 2025, on the 10th anniversary of my first visit in 2015. India is where the novella is set and I am currently working on putting together a team to make it into a movie. I am a former yoga instructor and that was what inspired me to go there the first time, a month long solo journey. It was quite the adventure and only strengthened my love of India and her people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My design business is my third business as an entrepreneur. I enjoy being my own boss. But that does create challenges, as I am responsible for every aspect of the business. COVID signaled the end of my yoga teaching career, but kept me at home which actually helped my design business.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I first began my business when I was looking for a star necklace for my daughter. Back in 2005, nothing was on the market, so I ventured into a bead store in Grapevine and found what I wanted. My love for designing jewelry has grown from costume to high quality gemstone and precious metal materials. I specialize in creating unique pieces that can be handed down to future generations. In the process, I have learned much about the power of gemstones, some of which I used teaching yoga a few years ago. I also have a best seller, in which I ask the customer 5 questions and design something specifically for them based on their answers. I’d say I’m known for combining knowledge gained from years of studying yoga, alternative health modalities, and the power of gemstones.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I currently have 3 Facebook pages, one personal, one for my jewelry design, and one as an author. I’m also on IG. As far as books, most of the ones in my current library involve design, alternative healing, gemstones, yoga and India.
