Life & Work with Brandy Fields of Garland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Fields.

Hi Brandy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Brandy, born and raised right here in Dallas, Texas. I’ve always had a deep love for this city, its people, and the way it shaped me. After graduating from UT-Arlington with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I began my career in healthcare and eventually stepped into my current role as an Assistant Nurse Manager in the ICU. It’s a position that challenges me, stretches me, and reminds me daily of the importance of compassion and resilience.

But beyond nursing, there has always been another part of me — the girl who loved dressing up, experimenting with style, and curating outfits long before I knew what “content creation” was. Fashion and beauty have been a consistent source of joy in my life, almost like a language I’ve spoken since childhood.

In 2016, my world changed when my mom passed away. Life hasn’t been the same since. Losing her left a void that I’m still learning to navigate, but one thing has remained constant: God’s faithfulness. He has carried me through seasons that felt impossible, and He continues to be the anchor for everything I do.

My journey as a content creator began almost unintentionally. I’ve always been the person friends and coworkers came to for advice — whether it was about nursing, style, or life. Helping people has always come naturally to me. In the beginning, most of my content centered around nursing. But when the COVID pandemic hit, everything shifted. Working in the ICU during that time was heavy. Coming home and talking about nursing felt like too much, so I gave myself the space to step away.

That’s when fashion and beauty found their way back into my life in a new way. Leaning into that side of myself became therapeutic. Creating looks, sharing tips, and uplifting women through style allowed me to express myself and reclaim joy during a difficult season. It turned into a pivot I didn’t plan — but one I’m so grateful for. It has been nothing short of phenomenal.

Today, I’m still serving my community through healthcare, while also inspiring women through the creative world of fashion and beauty. My story is still being written, but I hope it shows others that you can honor your passion, your purpose, and your pain — all at the same time. And that with faith, you can always reinvent yourself and step boldly into the next chapter.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Losing my mom in 2016 was the hardest turning point of my life. I was only three months into nursing school when she suddenly passed away, and everything in me wanted to quit. Grief made it almost impossible to focus, but I kept going because I knew she always believed in my purpose. Finishing school felt like a victory — until I faced another setback: failing my NCLEX on the first try. After everything I had already overcome, that moment felt devastating. I questioned myself, my abilities, and whether I was meant to be a nurse at all. But with faith, resilience, and the support of the people around me, I pushed forward. I tried again, passed, and now here I am — almost seven years into my nursing career. What once felt like failure became part of the foundation that made me stronger, more compassionate, and more determined than ever.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Today, I serve as an Assistant Nurse Manager, a role that allows me to lead, mentor, and support our ICU team. My nursing foundation is rooted in cardiac care — I started my career in the CVICU, where I learned what true resilience and precision look like. Eventually, I stepped into travel nursing, which opened my eyes to different hospitals, cultures, and patient populations. Those experiences pushed me to grow not only clinically but personally. Afterward, I pursued my Master’s in Healthcare Administration, and BOOM — here I am, blending leadership with bedside compassion in a way that truly fulfills me.

Outside of my professional world, fashion and beauty are where my creativity thrives. I love curating outfits that make a statement, pairing them with a perfectly BEAT face, and completing the look with a fragrance that leaves a lasting impression. Honestly, being told I smell good might be one of the best compliments I can receive. My dream has always been to grow as a content creator outside of nursing — and I’m finally owning that space. I am the content creator. I’m building something that reflects my personality, my joy, and the parts of me that exist beyond scrubs and hospital walls.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If I could offer anyone a piece of advice, it would be this: trust God and try Jesus. I promise you — you will never go wrong. Life will test you, stretch you, and place you on the “strong soldier” list more times than you ever asked for. You will have moments where you feel exhausted, uncertain, or overwhelmed. But once you truly trust the plan God has for you, everything begins to align in ways that are both great and deeply fulfilling. Faith doesn’t remove the challenges, but it gives you the strength, clarity, and peace to walk through them with purpose.
