Meet Liz Higgins of Millennial Life Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Higgins.

Hi Liz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After earning my license in Marriage and Family Therapy and practicing for a few years, I felt called to create something beyond a traditional practice—something that honored relational wellness as the lifelong, transformative process that it is. Millennial Life Counseling was born from that vision: a space where individuals and couples could unpack the wounds, roles, and adaptive strategies that shaped them, and learn how to build relationships rooted in clarity, connection, and self-trust. Over time, the practice grew because it was evident that people were hungry for depth, honesty, and a therapeutic approach that blended insight with real-world relational change.

MLC has represented a practice that carries forward an important mission to help our generation create epic marriages, relationships, and lives. It also represents a space where professionals can cultivate an amazing work environment where our relationships matter and where we strive for balance, especially in a career that can often be heavy and draining work.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every small business has it’s growth edges! We’ve navigated some incredible highs, including the hundreds of stories of healing and success our clients have attained by committing to their own work. It feels incredible to know that our team has provided a safe foundation for so many couples and individuals to literally change the trajectory of their lives from pain and disconnection to reconnection and fulfillment. Some of the challenges have revolved around the journey of learning management, both for myself and for my leadership team where we have literally grown up into our roles together over the years. It has been incredible seeing these strong, successful women become pillars of accountability to each other and to our overall mission. I am continuously impressed by our team who also show up fully in their own lives as parents and partners as well.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Millennial Life Counseling is a therapy practice in Dallas, Texas, dedicated to helping individuals and couples build healthier relationships and lives. We specialize in relational wellness, attachment healing, inner child work, and supporting high-functioning professionals who look successful on the outside yet feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to break old emotional patterns. Our clinicians are trained to go deeper than symptom management—we help clients understand why they feel, react, and relate the way they do, and how to create meaningful, lasting change in how they love, communicate, and show up in their lives.

We are best known for our compassionate, modern, and emotionally intelligent approach that blends evidence-based therapy with real-world application. Unlike practices that offer generalist care, we focus on the inner dynamics that shape adult relationships—perfectionism, people-pleasing, boundary struggles, conflict patterns, shame, and the unconscious roles formed in childhood. Many clients come to us because they’re ready for therapy that feels insightful, warm, and growth-oriented—not clinical, cold, or surface-level. We also take great pride in being relational with our clients from the start; there is no wait to get your appointment scheduled and we go beyond weekly sessions to ensure our clients feel cared for throughout their journey with us.

What sets us apart brand-wise is our commitment to making therapy feel human, relatable, and empowering. Our tone, environment, and client experience reflect a belief that healing should feel welcoming, hopeful, and deeply supportive. We are proud to be a practice that clients recommend to their friends, colleagues, and partners because they feel seen, understood, and guided by our incredible team of therapists.

For readers exploring therapy, we want them to know this:

Millennial Life Counseling is a place for people who are ready to grow, to understand themselves more deeply, and to create relationships and lives that feel connected, aligned, and emotionally healthy. Whether someone is navigating premarital preparation, marital conflict, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, identity transitions, or a desire to break generational patterns, our team offers individualized support designed to meet them where they are and help them move toward where they want to be.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Joining entrepreneurial communities has been THE way I have cultivated my professional Self as a leader and owner. I cannot say more positive things about EOA (Entrepreneur Organization Accelerators chapter) which I was a part of for two years. It was the best business coaching experience I’ve had (and trust me, I have engaged in tons of coaching environments both in groups and individually). What set this experience apart was the commitment I received from my own cohort, others’ accountability to their own growth and development, and the highest quality of local coaches and mentors I could have asked for. Being in this community led to wonderful individual coaching and mentorship that I am so grateful to have experienced. I do believe that everyone who is a small business owner should have a mentor or coach who can walk alongside them as they grow. I have noticed a direct correlation to my own mental and emotional wellness as a business owner when I am working with a coach versus when I am not. It’s priceless!
