Check Out Daniel Taylor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Taylor.

Hi Daniel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Northstar Music was founded in 2020 by Daniel Taylor, music director at Northstar School. Daniel began teaching drums at Northstar School in 2011. Over time Daniel started giving music lessons after school, and eventually saw a need to create a music program that would not only benefit the students at Northstar, but also serve the South Arlington community. The solution was Northstar Music. The past five years the school has grown to approximately 90 private lesson students and continues to grow!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Never! Nothing great ever comes from a smooth road, If it did everyone would do it. Time, money, and extreme sacrifice was needed to get the program off the ground. For a while it was tough and grew very slowly. From the website, to marketing, to finding the right teachers, to putting performances together, being the one wearing all of the hats took its toll. But thankfully hard work and patience pays off. We are doing better now than ever before and extremely grateful to all of our students and student families for all of the support that has been given along the way. We would not be here today if it were not for them!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the founder of Northstar Music, an extension of Northstar School. As the business owner I see all of the day to day operations and manage our student accounts. I have slowly taught less in order to manage the ever growing side of administration. Before all of this I was a drummer, playing and touring with bands. My biggest gig to date is touring with Casey Donahew in 2017. When I am not running the music school I am also a DJ with LeForce Entertainment.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along the way is to trust the process, and embrace the hard times. The hard steps along the way are necessary in order to have the good ones!

Pricing:

  • All weekly 30 minute music lessons are $128 per month.
