Hi Calista, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The idea of my business came to me when I was pregnant with my third child and I knew I wanted to find something where I could still be at home with them during the days. I’ve always been really creative and loved celebrating so when the thought of having a balloon and decor business came to me it was an immediate yes! I got Irene’s Balloon Wonderland up and running a month after my daughter was born and I’m truly so grateful to where it has gotten today and all the clients that have made that happen. We recently just received a small business award from Lenovo and the Dallas Cowboys.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been some obstacles, starting a new business in a new state, I had to figure out how to build a clientele and build that trustworthy relationship that I am known for.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a balloon artist, I service all over DFW. I create beautiful backdrops and displays for people or business’s special moments. From small and intimate to a spectacular grand opening we can do it all. We make customized props and backdrops to go with our clients themes, I love being able to make their vision come to life and be a small part of that special moment for them! I think what sets my business apart is it is a small business you’re getting my whole heart put into your event no matter how small or big I truly want to make sure you are happy and that it is special for you.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Everyone loves balloons and I don’t think that will change, there will always be something to celebrate. There are a lot of different trends, such as different backdrops or adding in florals. It’s important to keep learning in any industry and keep growing.
