Today we’d like to introduce you to Hosni Oz.
Hi Hosni, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Absolutely — I’d be more than happy to share.
Drawing has been a natural part of my life since childhood, and I’ve always admired tattoos as both an art form and a way for people to express themselves. I started getting tattooed fairly young, but I never saw it as a potential career path. Not at first.
Everything shifted during peak COVID. I was working in the service industry at the time, and like many people, I lost my job when the shutdowns happened. Suddenly I had a lot of free time and a strong desire to channel it into something meaningful. One night, a childhood friend casually asked if I had ever considered becoming a tattoo artist — and that question stuck with me. The idea started small, but it kept growing until it completely took over.
That moment ended up being the spark that changed the entire trajectory of my life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not — the road was far from smooth in the beginning. It was challenging on every level, and looking back, I’m incredibly grateful that I stayed committed, pushed through, and never gave up.
I made the decision to completely switch careers and pursue art full-time at 28 years old. At the time, I had a stable job that paid very well, and I was financially comfortable. Walking away from that to start over from scratch was a huge risk. And like many artists at the start of their journey, I experienced real financial hardship. The early stages require an intense amount of dedication, commitment, and sacrifice.
You can’t be afraid to fail, because you will fail at first — you’ll make mistakes, you’ll question yourself, and you’ll have days where you wonder if you made the right decision. But that’s exactly how you learn and grow. With time, consistency, and resilience, things slowly begin to click. The process that once felt overwhelming eventually becomes smooth sailing — just like it is for me now.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a tattoo artist specializing in dainty, fine-line black and grey micro-realism. I’m also known for my Arabic calligraphy work and for creating abstract blackwork pieces. My style is very detail-driven, and I’ve become known for executing tiny, intricate designs that many artists say “can’t be done.”
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time. I’m genuinely obsessed with my craft — my career means everything to me. Every client who supports me, believes in me, and trusts me with a piece of their body forever… I don’t take that lightly. It’s an honor every single time.
What sets me apart is the way I treat my clients and the intentional experience I create for them. I’ve always believed that getting a tattoo is much more than the artwork itself. Of course the art matters — but the way you make someone feel during the process matters just as much, if not more. The comfort, the energy, the conversations, the trust, the way they walk out of the appointment, and what they later say about the experience to their friends… all of that is part of the tattoo. I’m committed to making sure every client feels seen, valued, and taken care of from start to finish.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I would say integrity, without question. Being honest with people, communicating openly, and staying transparent in everything I do has been a huge part of my success. In this industry, trust is everything — and clients can feel when you’re genuine.
Equally important is work ethic. I take my craft seriously, and I show up with consistency, discipline, and respect for every person who sits in my chair. That combination of integrity and strong work ethic is what has allowed me to grow, build real relationships, and create a career I’m truly proud of.
