Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Janca.
Hi Carol , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was 12 I thought I would like to be a hairstylist. I didn’t go to beauty school till I was 25. I moved from Haltom City to Wichita Falls right after graduating from Ogle School of Hair Design because of a boyfriend. I started working at Regis Salon at Sikes Senter Mall. Worked there 13 years. Got married and began to work in the Hyperbaric business with my husband doing hair on the side. I missed the salon very much. After my husband passed I moved back to Ft worth and began working at Harmony Salon and Spa. I’ve been here for almost 4 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not working in a salon was hard, I really missed it. Starting over was even harder. Although I was from the metroplex I had to start from scratch. Building a clientele takes alot of time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I really enjoy creating a look that people want whether it is a cut, color, or curl. People want healthy hair that looks good on them. I like to do that new look and help them maintain it. Everything from how often to come to the salon and what to use to maintain it from shampoo to styling tools to how often they should come back to the salon. Something that makes me different in my salon is that I do, do permanent waves. And help keep them looking fresh and the hair healthy.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see things coming back with different names. I think that is fun.
