Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathleen Iliff.
Hi Kathleen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my career in fitness after graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. During my internship at Larry North Fitness, I gained hands-on experience training clients and building a foundation in science-based programming. My own athletic background—ranging from bodybuilding and powerlifting to Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and running—deepened my understanding of human performance and movement.
In 2016, I stepped into independent coaching and ultimately founded Movére Wellness, where I integrate functional movement systems, mobility training, and a holistic, evidence-driven approach. Over the years, I’ve combined my education, personal athletic journey, and advanced certifications to help clients move better, feel stronger, and build sustainable wellness from the ground up.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
During the first few years there was definitely a lot of having to “prove” myself to clients as far as my knowledge and experience. The personal training world was also a far more male saturated industry when I was starting out and I did witness how they were a bit more respected, regardless of education. Over time that has become less of an issue, especially after building up a solid client base with majority of my clientele being referrals.
Working independently has definitely had its challenges, especially considering you never get paid time off, ha.
As you know, we’re big fans of Movére Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Movére Wellness is a holistic, trauma-informed training and mobility-based coaching practice dedicated to helping people move better, feel stronger, and reconnect with their bodies. Rooted in science and shaped by years of experience in strength sports and martial arts, Movére blends functional movement systems, mobility development, and structured strength training to create programs that are personalized, intentional, and sustainable.
Understanding that the body and nervous system are deeply interconnected, Movére approaches movement through a trauma-informed lens—prioritizing safety, consent, regulation, and individualized pacing. This allows clients to build strength and resilience not only physically, but also in the way they relate to stress, tension, and embodied experiences.
Founded on the belief that movement is medicine, Movére Wellness focuses on joint health, mobility, performance, and long-term well-being. Whether supporting recovery, improving daily function, or elevating athletic performance, Movére offers an integrated, evidence-driven approach that meets clients exactly where they are.
At its core, Movére Wellness is about empowerment: giving people the tools, education, and confidence to understand their bodies, expand their capabilities, and move through life with greater freedom and presence.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Staying true to my purpose, which is continuing to seek and expand in my knowledge to help others learn more about their body.
