Inspiring Conversations with Dennis Walthers of Interactive Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Walthers.

Hi Dennis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My path has always centered around two things: people and possibility. I started my career in the tech world, leading sales and marketing teams for brands like Cisco, Polaroid, D-Link, Epson, and Dell. Those years taught me how technology shapes human behavior—and how the right experience can make someone feel something memorable.

After two decades in corporate leadership, I reached a point where I wanted to build something of my own—something creative, people-focused, and rooted in innovation. That’s what led me to launch Interactive Dallas. What started as a small idea around interactive photo experiences has grown into a full experiential-tech company working with global brands, sports teams, and agencies.

Today we design high-impact activations that blend AI, creativity, and emerging tech—things like AI photo booths, GlamBOT, Iris Photography, digital graffiti, and large-scale LED experiences. Along the way I’ve learned that the most meaningful growth comes from staying curious, experimenting constantly, and building trust with every client.

It’s been a journey fueled by a mix of corporate discipline, entrepreneurial grit, and a genuine love for helping brands create moments people actually remember.”**

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d love to say it’s been a smooth road, but like most entrepreneurs, the journey has had some tough seasons. Walking away from a stable executive career to build something from the ground up meant wearing every hat and learning a lot through trial and error. There were events where equipment failed, budgets were tight, and plenty of moments where I had to out-innovate companies with bigger teams and deeper pockets.

And then COVID hit. The shutdown nearly wiped us out. Overnight, every event on the calendar disappeared. It was one of the most challenging periods of my professional life—financially and emotionally. I had to rethink everything: the business model, the services, the way we engaged clients. It forced me to get scrappy, get creative, and rebuild piece by piece.

That period taught me more about resilience than anything else. It pushed me to double down on innovation, diversification, and staying ahead of where technology was going—especially AI-driven experiences.

Those challenges shaped both me and Interactive Dallas. They made the company stronger, more adaptable, and more intentional about delivering experiences that truly stand out.”**

As you know, we’re big fans of Interactive Dallas. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Interactive Dallas is an experiential-tech company built around one mission: creating unforgettable moments through innovation, creativity, and personalization. We design and produce high-impact activations for corporate events, sports teams, luxury brands, and agencies across Texas and beyond.

We’re known for bringing cutting-edge experiences to life—AI photo booths, GlamBOT-style slow motion capture, 360 video, LED walls, Digital Graffiti, Iris Photography, Aura Portraits, VR/AR moments, and fully custom branded interactions. But what really sets us apart isn’t just the tech—it’s how we blend technology with storytelling. Every activation is tailored to the brand, the audience, and the emotion they want to create.

Our specialty is turning guests into the hero of the moment. Whether it’s transforming someone into a sports superstar with AI, capturing the fine details of their iris, or designing a branded digital art experience, we make each person feel seen, valued, and part of something special.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our commitment to innovation. We don’t copy trends—we build them. We’re constantly experimenting with new AI tools, interactive hardware, custom software, and experiential design so clients always get something fresh and original. Our clients trust us because we show up with ideas that elevate their event, not just equipment.

What I want readers to know is this: Interactive Dallas isn’t a photo booth company. We’re a creative partner. We help brands stand out at events by delivering experiences that people talk about long after they leave. If you’re looking for something modern, personalized, and truly memorable, that’s where we thrive.”**

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t grow by playing it safe — and it will always take longer than you think. I started Interactive Dallas back in 2011, long before the experiential-tech space became what it is today. Over the years I’ve learned that growth doesn’t happen in a straight line. It takes patience, reinvention, and a willingness to push through the seasons when progress feels slow.

Innovation rarely comes from comfort. It comes from being curious, taking risks, and learning as you go. The event world moves fast, and technology moves even faster, so staying relevant means staying adaptable. Every new wave — from social media to mobile to today’s AI-driven experiences — pushed me to evolve both the business and myself.

I’ve also learned that relationships are everything. No matter how advanced the tech is, clients remember how you show up, the trust you build, and the way you make their event feel special.

If there’s one truth I’d pass on to someone starting their own journey, it’s this: expect it to take longer than you think, but don’t let that discourage you. Consistency, curiosity, and genuine relationships will carry you farther than any shortcut ever could
