Inspiring Conversations with Lexi Ford of Bonnie’s

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Ford.

Hi Lexi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been interested in the inner and finer workings if business. I have an extremely analytical brain but it’s coupled with creativity and efficiency. 11 years ago I was given an opportunity to build a business from the ground up. Although i had basic knowledge of business operations and management due to my previous years of managerial positions, I really began to understand it to a new depth. I became enthralled with the puzzle and research required to start a business and make it successful. From there I got into government contracting and grant writing with a new business I developed. I’ve had so much success and also been able to consult for many many people on their small businesses. I love service businesses and being able to connect people, since although I am primarily selt-taught/educated, I wouldn’t have had a lot of the road map if it weren’t for a lot of my mentors along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been primarily smooth but not without obstacles. Being an entrepreneur will always have obstacles and challenges. Everything from learning about inspections, to government nuances, to employee training and efficiency, to simple effective management styles. I try to see every obstacle and challenge as a learning opportunity, even if I do bang my head in the desk sometimes.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I am working on opening up a coffee and beer location in the Square of Venus, TX called Bonnie’s. Local legend has it, Bonnie and Clyde had a stakeout in the suite above us and robbed the bank next door. The film, Bonnie and Clyde, was also filmed there, along with many episodes of Yellowstone.

The history of Venus and our building intrigued me and I wanted to pay homage to all of it by opening a quaint hangout spot for locals and tourists alike.

I’m set on featuring local businesses in Bonnie’s and brining together a sense of community for the area. We will be featuring a rotation of locally baked goods from bakers in Venus, Midlothian, Mansfield, and Waxahachie. We will also be featuring 10 Texas brewers beers on tap. We will have live music from local artists, events such as paint and sip, game nights, and trivia.

The goal is to support local economy and help revitalize the downtown area of Venus to assist in the growth if their economy and job markets.

We will be doing in house micro roasting of all our beans daily, offering a free sample of roasted beans and 1 free drink to first responders and veterans at the beginning of each month.

5% of our profits every month will be directly donated to The Sandy Foundation, in hopes of building a sports community center for people living with and with a disability for the Venus and surrounding areas.

Our family friendly place will be opening in April of 2026. We can’t wait to see you there!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I hate driving. I wish one day to be able to be paid enough money to have a personal driver at any given time.
