Exploring Life & Business with Chris Lacquement of Texas Best Mobile Pet Grooming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Lacquement.

Chris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Pet Grooming Consultant & Industry Professional Chris Lacquement

Chris Lacquement is a nationally recognized pet grooming consultant, entrepreneur, and industry leader based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. He is the owner of multiple award-winning grooming brands, including Kountry Klippers Pet Grooming, White Rock Pet Grooming, Urban Dogg Pet Grooming, Bones & Bows Pet Grooming, Bark of the Town Pet Grooming, and the multi-van mobile operation Texas Best Mobile Pet Grooming. He is also the founder of K9 Business Solutions, a consulting firm that specializes in helping grooming businesses grow, scale, and operate at peak performance.

Career Beginnings & Early Success

Lacquement began his grooming career through a traditional apprenticeship in Brownsville, Texas, where he learned in a high-volume environment with strong emphasis on skill, speed, and animal handling. After nearly a decade of hands-on grooming, he launched his first company, Lakewood Mobile Pet Grooming, in 2017. He grew that business from a single unit into a fleet of seven mobile grooming vans generating over $1 million per year before selling the company in 2023.

That early success laid the groundwork for his expansion into brick-and-mortar salons across the Dallas area. What started with one mobile unit evolved into a multi-location grooming enterprise trusted by thousands of clients across DFW.

A Network of High-Performing Pet Grooming Brands

Across his portfolio, Lacquement leads a large team of groomers, bathers, and support staff with decades of combined experience. Each location has its own neighborhood personality, but all share the same commitment to high standards, reliable service, and compassionate pet care. His businesses are known for:

Treating pets with empathy and patience

High-quality grooming grounded in skill and consistency

Long-term customer loyalty and community reputation

A focus on safe handling, continuing education, and staff development

“Humanity Over Vanity” Philosophy

A defining part of Lacquement’s leadership is his commitment to a grooming philosophy he calls “Humanity Over Vanity.” The concept is simple: the wellbeing of the pet always comes before cosmetic results or sales.

This approach means refusing unnecessary, unsafe, or overly stressful services; not overbooking groomers; and ensuring all pets are treated as family members, not transactions. This philosophy has shaped every brand he owns and has earned deep loyalty from both clients and staff.

Industry Consultant & Business Strategist

Through K9 Business Solutions, Lacquement has become a sought-after consultant for grooming businesses nationwide. His services include:

Startup planning and launch strategy

Operational systems and SOP development

Pricing models and profitability design

Mobile grooming fleet operations

Staffing structures and compensation models

Multi-location scaling

Acquisition readiness and valuation strategy

Because he actively owns and operates successful salons and mobile units, his consulting is grounded in real numbers, real teams, and real operations—not theory. He often emphasizes that he is “a groomer who built businesses,” not the other way around, which gives him rare credibility in the industry.

Educator, Speaker & Thought Leader

Lacquement is also active as an educator and speaker. He has been featured in industry podcasts, grooming publications, and regional business spotlights, where he discusses topics such as:

Building and leading grooming teams

Scaling without losing quality

Improving client retention and communication

The economics of grooming businesses

How to structure for long-term success or sale

He also produces educational content through his platform Texas Best Grooming, which includes newsletters, podcasts, training resources, and community partnerships.

A Builder of Businesses & A Supporter of Community

Beyond profits, Lacquement is passionate about giving back. His businesses frequently support rescue organizations, charitable grooming initiatives, and community fundraisers. His leadership blends entrepreneurship with service, making him a widely respected figure in both the grooming industry and the local communities he serves.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout his journey, Chris has always been transparent about the difficulties behind the success. When he launched his first grooming business, he worked relentless hours—often seven days a week, ten to twelve hours a day—doing anything and everything required to keep the company alive. The grind was so intense that at one point his eating and sleeping habits collapsed, and he became seriously ill from pushing himself beyond his limits. He openly shares these experiences not for sympathy, but to show the real sacrifices that went into building his brands and to remind others that true growth often requires navigating seasons of hardship, discipline, and grit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Texas Best Mobile Pet Grooming was founded by Chris Lacquement as an expansion of his commitment to bringing high-quality, compassionate grooming directly to pet owners’ homes. After launching his first mobile grooming business in East Dallas in 2017 and proving the demand for reliable, stress-free grooming at the client’s doorstep, Chris created Texas Best Mobile Pet Grooming to serve a wider area across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.

The company was built on a simple philosophy: convenience should never come at the expense of quality or animal welfare. Chris designed the service to reduce the stress pets often feel in traditional salon environments, while also giving busy families a dependable, premium grooming solution.

Texas Best Mobile grew from a single grooming van into a multi-unit operation known for its consistency, customer service, and “Humanity Over Vanity” approach. Every groomer is trained to prioritize safety, comfort, and individualized care, making the brand one of the most trusted mobile grooming providers in the region.

Today, Texas Best Mobile Pet Grooming stands as a reflection of Chris’s mission—to elevate the grooming industry by blending convenience, craftsmanship, and compassionate care into one trusted mobile experience.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Looking ahead five to ten years, Chris believes the pet grooming industry is on the verge of major transformation—and he intends to be part of that change. Today, grooming remains largely unregulated, which creates wide gaps in training standards and makes it difficult for aspiring groomers to access proper education. Because grooming schools cannot qualify for traditional funding like FAFSA, many talented individuals are priced out of opportunities that could advance their careers. Chris expects to see meaningful shifts in regulation, standardized education, and industry culture in the near future. He envisions a grooming field with clearer training requirements, stronger professional pathways, and broader access to high-quality education—changes he is actively working to help shape.
