Hidden Gems: Meet Brit Wold of GRIT Fitness / GRIT by Brit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brit Wold.

Hi Brit, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always say GRIT was born long before it had a name. Growing up in Mesquite, TX, I was raised by parents who believed deeply in discipline, optimism, and mental toughness. My dad coached me as an athlete, and I went on to play Division I basketball at Cornell University. My mom mentored me into becoming a confident young woman through dance, speech, and debate competitions. Those early lessons shaped everything I do.
My professional foundation is in business and organizational culture. After graduating from Harvard Business School, I built my career in management consulting. I’ve always enjoyed the strategy, problem-solving, and partnering with clients to build strong teams and high-performing organizations. At the same time, fitness and community-building have always been passions of mine. I taught group fitness classes on the side — first at 24 Hour Fitness, then in a small rented dance studio in New York City where my Turbo Kick classes started selling out. That experience showed me the power of high-energy, female-driven community experiences and planted the seed that I could build something of my own.
In 2015, after creating the “GRIT by Brit Ultimate Body Burn” workout DVD, I expanded on that passion by opening GRIT Fitness in Dallas with a mission to empower women to build strength — physically, mentally, and emotionally. What started as a tiny 1,200 sq ft studio has grown into a vibrant, multi-location community serving thousands of women with a unique blend of fitness, empowerment, and sisterhood.
And since the early days of opening my first studio, my life has grown too — I’m now a wife, a mom of three beautiful children, and a dog mom as well. None of these blessings were part of my life when I started GRIT, which makes this journey even more meaningful. Today, GRIT is not just a gym — it’s a movement. It’s a place where women come to feel strong, supported, and seen, just as I’ve grown into all the roles I once dreamed of.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road — but that’s exactly where the grit comes in.
There were the challenges of securing my first SBA loan, working every front desk shift, teaching 10+ classes per week, and moments where I had to bet on myself before anyone else did. I faced burnout, health challenges, and the emotional weight of trying to build a business while also trying to preserve my dreams of becoming a mother. There were seasons where I felt pulled in every direction: leading a team, scaling a company, dating, navigating fertility decisions, recovering from stress-induced illness, and still showing up for my community every day.
I’ve weathered the highs and lows of entrepreneurship — from surprise landlord negotiations, to studio expansions, to a global pandemic that forced us to reinvent our entire business model overnight. I’ve had to learn how to surrender, how to rest, how to trust others to lead, and how to stay grounded in purpose when circumstances felt uncertain.
But every obstacle strengthened our culture. It taught me that grit is not about pushing endlessly — it’s about resilience, faith, adaptability, and believing that you can rise again and again. Grit is inspired by grace. You have to believe God’s got your back to have the grit to keep going. If you keep going, you WILL succeed. GRIT DON’T QUIT.

As you know, we’re big fans of GRIT Fitness / GRIT by Brit. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
GRIT Fitness is a women’s empowerment brand disguised as a fitness studio. Yes, we offer incredible workouts — boxing, HIIT, cycling, sculpt, strength, and pilates — but the magic is the energy, the sisterhood, and the culture of mental toughness that underpins everything we do.
We specialize in high-energy, music-driven group classes that make women feel powerful. Our instructors are leaders, motivators, and community-builders. Our spaces are intentionally designed to feel vibrant, inclusive, and uplifting. We believe that mental toughness is a superpower, and our mission is to help women build it — one sweaty, empowering class at a time.
What sets us apart is our philosophy: No Grit, No Pearl.
We believe that challenges produce beauty. Growth comes through pressure. Strength is built through resistance. And community is essential for transformation.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that GRIT has remained authentic. We are about to celebrate 11 years in business. We don’t chase trends, and we don’t try to be everything to everyone. We stay rooted in empowerment, positivity, and resilience — and that’s why our community is so loyal. Whether you come for the workout or the mindset shift, you leave feeling stronger than when you walked in.
For readers: GRIT is more than fitness. It’s a place where women connect, heal, grow, and discover their power. And we welcome every woman — at every age, stage, and fitness level — to be part of the movement.
