Today we’d like to introduce you to Rijaa Khan.
Hi Rijaa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Absolutely! Here’s my story:
My journey with content creation started in the most organic way back in 2021. A lot of my close friends were getting married around the same time, and I naturally found myself capturing little clips of their events and stitching them into short, heartfelt edits. They weren’t anything fancy, they were just honest, joyful highlights of their big day, but I genuinely loved making them. It was a way for me to celebrate the people I cared about while tapping into a creative part of myself that I didn’t even realize was waiting to grow.
Because so many of my friends were getting married within months of each other, I stayed in this rhythm of shooting, editing, experimenting, and refining without even thinking about it as a “business.” It was simply something that made me happy.
Fast forward to 2023, I got engaged, and that experience really shifted something for me. Being on the other side of wedding planning made me understand how meaningful and fleeting these moments are. It also made me realize that the kind of content I was making for my friends was something I wanted other people to have access to, too. So, one month after my engagement, in September of 2023, I launched an Instagram page and officially started what is now my business – Studio Rij.
At the beginning, it was still just a passion project. I thought it would stay small, something “on the side” that I did because it brought me joy. But very quickly, I saw the real impact it had. Couples were trusting me with their most intimate, emotional moments. Families were sharing how grateful they were to have these candid, behind-the-scenes memories. And the more events I covered, the more I fell in love with the work.
This past year became the turning point. I realized that content creation wasn’t just a creative outlet, it was something I wanted to do wholeheartedly. So I made the decision to take the business full-time. It was scary, exciting, and honestly one of the most pivotal decisions I’ve ever made.
Today, Studio Rij has grown into a team of several talented individuals, all driven by the same passion for capturing honest, unscripted, meaningful moments. My goal from day one has been to build something that gives others the chance to tap into their own creativity, just like I did, and watching this vision expand into a full team has been incredibly special.
From making casual edits for friends in 2021 to running a full-time content creation studio today, the journey has been unexpected, humbling, and deeply fulfilling. And honestly, it still feels like I’m just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path to building Studio Rij has been filled with challenges, both personally and professionally. During the time I was shaping this business, my family and I endured some incredibly difficult moments and painful losses. On top of that, I was also navigating my own wedding planning, which came with its own set of emotional highs and lows. Trying to balance grief, family commitments, life changes, and the pressure of showing up fully for clients was not easy.
There were moments where I questioned whether I could keep pushing forward, moments where the weight of everything happening behind the scenes felt too heavy. But I kept reminding myself that the things that are hardest to build often become the things we’re proudest of. And that has been true in every way with Studio Rij.
I never imagined this little passion project, something that started with me making simple edits for friends, would turn into what it is today. Growing a business while growing as a person has brought its fair share of doubts, learning curves, and growing pains. But every challenge has been a turning point that pushed me to refine my craft, show up with more intention, and believe more deeply in what I’m building.
Seeing how far Studio Rij has come in just two years, and imagining how much further it can go, has made every difficult moment worth it. It’s given me a deeper confidence in myself and in the future of this business. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been purposeful, rewarding, and honestly one of the most beautiful parts of my story.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Studio Rij is, at its core, a digital storytelling service. We specialize in capturing weddings and other milestone moments through two mediums: iPhone-based content creation and film-style photography shot on Fujifilm. Our team is made up of several talented creatives who all share the same mission: to preserve the beauty of a moment exactly as it was felt.
What we’re most known for is our editing style and our attention to detail. Traditional photography and videography beautifully capture the key, structured parts of an event, but our focus is on everything in between. The quiet glances, the unplanned laughter, the small gestures, and the fleeting emotions that often go unnoticed. We’re there for the candid, unscripted, deeply personal pieces of someone’s story, the moments that you’ll look back on and say, “I didn’t even realize that was captured.”
I’m most proud of the aesthetic and storytelling style we’ve curated over time. Studio Rij’s visuals are cinematic, warm, and intentionally crafted to make you feel like you were truly there. It’s not just a sequence of clips, it’s a narrative. We’re not chasing the algorithm; we’re focused on honesty, emotion, and the little details that make each story unique.
What sets us apart is the level of care we bring to every event. We approach each celebration with the understanding that for our clients, this is one of the most meaningful days of their lives. Our job isn’t just to record it, it’s to preserve the emotion of it. We’re dedicated to making our clients feel seen, celebrated, and cared for, and to delivering content that reflects the magic, the love, and the atmosphere of their day exactly as it was experienced.
That combination, intentional storytelling, a distinctive editing style, and a deeply personal approach to service, is what defines Studio Rij and continues to guide everything we create.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Because most of my work is within the wedding industry, that’s the lens I naturally see the future through. And honestly, I think the next 5-10 years are going to be incredibly transformative.
Weddings have already begun shifting, especially with Gen Z stepping into this season of life. Their approach is refreshing, intentional, and far more personal. Instead of the traditional, formal, structured receptions that have dominated for decades, we’re seeing couples turn their weddings into experiences; celebrations that reflect their personalities, their communities, and the little things they love. Think interactive coffee carts, custom mocktail bars, late-night comfort food, personal vows, unique entertainment, and design choices that feel true to them rather than dictated by tradition.
In short, weddings are becoming less about performing a script and more about creating an atmosphere. Less about perfect poses and more about genuine emotion. Less about formality and more about fun. I think this shift will only continue to grow, giving space for new types of wedding vendors, like content creators, to flourish.
Content creation in particular is still very new, and I believe it’s going to become a standard part of the wedding ecosystem. Couples want instant access to their memories. They want candid, behind-the-scenes storytelling that feels real.
Our job as content creators also solves a major pain point: guests and family can actually be present. Instead of spending the entire night recording on their phones or worrying about what they’re missing, they get to unplug and enjoy the celebration, knowing someone is capturing all the little moments they would have forgotten to. Because weddings move fast. They’re emotional. They’re overwhelming in the best way. And so much of the magic happens in the margins.
I think the future of this industry is going to celebrate that more than ever. More candids. More storytelling. More authenticity. More space for creatives who bring a unique perspective. And more emphasis on experiences that truly reflect the couple behind the celebration.
The wedding industry is evolving quickly, and content creation is going to be at the forefront of that growth.
