Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Roberts.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my leadership journey at 20 years old in a dark warehouse at two in the morning, suddenly responsible for leading people without any real training. Like so many frontline managers today, I didn’t have a mentor, so I found mine in books. Vince Lombardi taught me discipline and standards. Zig Ziglar taught me people. John Maxwell and Stephen Covey showed me what leadership looks like when you put people first.
Those lessons fueled a thirty-year career in a Fortune 50 logistics company. I worked my way up to senior leadership, eventually running large, complex operations and becoming known for building diverse teams that delivered best-in-class results.
But the real turning point came when I was passed over for a promotion. I could have stayed frustrated, but instead, I went back to school, earned my MBA, and doubled down on growing. That decision, along with earning my Maxwell Leadership Certification, reshaped my career. It gave me the tools to take everything I had learned and launch Transform Coaching.
What drives me now is simple: I want to be the mentor I never had. I help leaders who want to be great not for themselves, but for their people. I’ve lived the frontline struggle, and I’ve led big teams to big results. I built a practical framework to help others do the same, which I share in my new book, How to Be a Great Leader: 8 Proven Steps to Lead People, Build Culture, and Get Results.
My mission is to ensure frontline and mid-level managers finally get the skills, confidence, and mindset they deserve to lead well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my corporate career, even with its challenges, the path was visible. There was a ladder to climb and a structure to support me. The real struggle began when I stepped out to build Transform Coaching from scratch. I knew it would take work, but I underestimated the level of persistence required.
When you first start, you can feel like the ‘best kept secret’ in town. You put out content to serve people, but sometimes it feels like the algorithms on Facebook and YouTube are working against you. That silence can be loud. It triggers imposter syndrome in a very real way, making you ask, ‘Does anyone actually need this?’
It would be easy to walk away when you feel invisible. But I always come back to my purpose. When I wrote my book and when I coach teams, I’m speaking to the person I used to be—the young manager in the warehouse who wanted to lead well but didn’t have the tools.
That purpose keeps me going. I’m not driven by likes or views; I’m driven by impact. If my work helps just one frontline manager find the direction, clarity, or confidence they’ve been missing, then every struggle along the way is worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Transform Coaching LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Transform Coaching exists for one reason: to help frontline and mid-level managers become confident, effective leaders who build high engagement and strong team cultures.
While most leadership industry programs are built for executives, I focus on the group that impacts everything: the frontline. I work with small business owners, city and county teams, nonprofits, and large corporations. No matter the size of the organization, the problem is usually the same: good people are promoted into leadership but never taught how to lead.
I’m known for my LEAD WELL framework, which takes complex leadership concepts and breaks them down into simple, actionable steps. This isn’t theory; it’s built from over thirty years of leading diverse teams to best-in-class results.
What sets me apart? I don’t believe in boring workshops where someone lectures at you for four hours. My training is interactive, fun, and practical. Whether it’s a DISC workshop, a team retreat, or supervisor training, people get involved. They learn, they laugh, and they walk away with tools they can use immediately.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the belief that drives everything I do: Everyone deserves to be led well. My book, How to Be a Great Leader, captures that mission. It gives managers a practical playbook to stand out, grow their influence, and build engaged teams that win.
I want your readers to know that leadership is not about titles. It is about taking care of your people. If you want to grow yourself, your team, and your results, that is exactly what Transform Coaching is built to do.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is helping people live their purpose with intention.
Too many people drift through life—and their careers—without a clear direction. They bounce from job to job, hoping things will just ‘work out.’ I know that feeling deeply. I’ve had seasons where I looked back and wondered where the time went and why nothing meaningful had changed.
Everything shifted when I stopped drifting and started living on purpose. I’ve lived both sides of that equation, and I can tell you: intentional living is always better than hoping luck finds you.
That is why I care so much about leadership and personal growth. I want to help people, especially young leaders and new managers, figure out their purpose now so they don’t waste years searching for it the hard way. John Maxwell says the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you discover why. I believe that with everything I have.
My goal is to leave a legacy of helping others find that clarity. I want to equip them to grow themselves and live intentionally so they can lead well and make the impact they were created to make.
