Today we’d like to introduce you to Fronce Barnes.

Hi Fronce, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Dr. Fronce Barnes, PharmD Bio

Dr. Fronce Barnes is a pharmacist, entrepreneur, and owner of Kearney Park Compounding Pharmacy in Mesquite, Texas. Born and raised in Bassfield, Mississippi, he was shaped by the challenges of growing up in a rural community with limited access to healthcare — an experience that inspired his lifelong passion for helping people through personalized medicine.

He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2008 and founded Kearney Park Pharmacy in 2012 at just 28 years old. Over the past decade, he has grown the pharmacy into one of Texas’s leading compounding centers, specializing in customized non-sterile and sterile medications, advanced hormone therapy, dermatology solutions, gastrointestinal and pain-management alternatives, veterinary compounds, and wellness-focused therapies shipped statewide.

Dr. Barnes is known for creating fast-turnaround, patient-specific medications and for building strong relationships with physicians and clinics to improve patient outcomes. His work focuses on innovation, accessibility, and the belief that medicine should be tailored to each individual.

Beyond pharmacy, Dr. Barnes is a dedicated family man, real-estate investor, and community-focused leader. His personal journey is grounded in faith, resilience, and the desire to elevate underserved communities. He is currently developing his first book to highlight the importance of compounding pharmacy in addressing modern healthcare gaps.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Response: Obstacles I’ve Overcome

Growing up in rural Bassfield, Mississippi, came with challenges that shaped both my character and my drive. Access to opportunity was limited — there were no major industries, very few healthcare resources, and not many examples of people pursuing advanced education or owning businesses. As a young Black man in that environment, I had to push past a lot of unspoken expectations and break through ceilings that were placed over people who looked like me.

Financial barriers were another major obstacle. I didn’t come from generational wealth or established business networks, so every step — from earning my doctorate to opening my pharmacy at 28 — required faith, discipline, and learning how to build something from the ground up without a safety net. Much of my journey involved figuring things out alone, being the first in my family to take this path, and carrying the pressure of creating opportunities that didn’t previously exist.

I also had to overcome the mindset challenges that come with being “the first.” When there is no blueprint, no mentors who walked your exact path, and no examples to follow, you have to develop resilience early. I learned to depend on God, stay focused, and keep going even when the road wasn’t clear.

Everything I’ve accomplished — from earning my doctorate to founding a compounding pharmacy, expanding into real estate, and building multiple businesses — came from pushing through those early limitations. Those obstacles didn’t stop me; they prepared me. They gave me the determination to create a life and legacy that goes far beyond where I started.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Kearney Park Compounding Pharmacy is a fully independent, patient-focused compounding pharmacy based in Mesquite, Texas. We are known for creating customized medications for patients all over the state — medications that traditional pharmacies simply cannot provide. Our work is rooted in personalization, problem-solving, and restoring access to treatments that are often overlooked or unavailable elsewhere.

We specialize in non-sterile and sterile compounding, including hormone therapy, dermatology formulas, gastroenterology compounds, pain-management alternatives, pediatric and geriatric dosing, veterinary medications, and wellness-focused formulations. We ship throughout Texas, and we pride ourselves on fast turnaround times, high-quality ingredients, and a level of service that feels personal and human.

What sets us apart is our philosophy: every patient deserves medicine made specifically for them. Whether it’s tailoring a dosage, removing allergens, improving the flavor for a child, customizing a cream that actually works, or helping a physician solve a clinical problem no commercial drug can address — we step in where standard medicine stops. We work closely with doctors, specialists, and clinics to provide solutions that improve outcomes and increase patient satisfaction.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Kearney Park Pharmacy represents excellence, integrity, and compassion. Our patients know they’re not just numbers — they are valued individuals with unique needs, and we treat them like family. I also take pride in the fact that we built this from the ground up, without big backing or corporate support, yet we operate at a level that rivals far larger organizations.

For your readers, the biggest thing to know is this: compounding is the heart of personalized medicine. If a patient can’t tolerate a commercial drug, needs a discontinued medication, needs a unique dosage form, or simply hasn’t found relief with standard options, we can often create a tailored solution that makes all the difference. Our goal is to give every patient access to better health, better options, and better care — one custom medication at a time.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the right mentor doesn’t always come from your industry — sometimes they come from your values. For me, mentorship has come through people who shared my work ethic, my faith, and my commitment to growth, even if they weren’t pharmacists. I looked for people whose lives reflected where I wanted to go, not just what I wanted to do professionally.

My advice is to stay curious and stay humble. Ask questions, show up to opportunities even when they feel uncomfortable, and be willing to learn from anyone who has achieved something meaningful. A mentor isn’t just someone who teaches you; it’s someone whose perspective challenges you, stretches you, and forces you to think bigger.

Networking has worked best for me when I approach it with authenticity. I don’t walk into rooms trying to “get something.” I walk in trying to genuinely connect. People can feel when your intentions are real, and that energy opens doors faster than any business card ever could.

Another thing that has helped me is consistency. I try to stay in contact with people, circle back, offer help when I can, and build relationships instead of transactions. Over time, that turns into a network of people who support you, recommend you, and speak your name in rooms you’re not in.

Most importantly, trust that the right people will align with your purpose. When you work hard, carry yourself with character, and lead with integrity, the mentors and connections you need have a way of finding you at exactly the right time.
