Meet Nikki Musko of The Collar Club Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Musko.

Hi Nikki, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Nikki Musko’s journey began at a young age, driven by a fascination with dogs as a species, which eventually grew into a mission to raise the standards of dog training.

Some of the key milestones and principles that define her work today include:

– With over 25 years of experience, she has trained more than 7,000 domestic dogs and has also worked directly with coyotes and wolves, giving her a unique depth of understanding across multiple canine species.

– From the very beginning, she learned from dog trainers around the world, studying a variety of techniques and training approaches.

– She opened her first training location in Ohio before expanding into Texas with The Collar Club Academy.

– She works on the most challenging cases, including extreme human aggression, severe anxiety, and dogs considered “impossible” by others. Clients bring their dogs to her Texas training facility from across the United States and even internationally.

– She provides personal protection dogs as well as service dogs for individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and anxiety.

– She founded Mercy Dogs, a nonprofit that delivers the best of both worlds by rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters and training them as service dogs for veterans and first responders with PTSD.

– Every program she offers is fully customized, as no single method fits every dog.

Her work has earned significant recognition, including:

– Induction into the Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Registry

– Best Dog Trainer of Denton (2023 & 2024)

– Best of Denton Business Hall of Fame (2024)

– American Kennel Club (AKC) Evaluator

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business has its problems, but at the same time, triumphs are mainly tied to the ability to persevere and solve problems no matter the environment. A lot of people only view the perks of being a business owner, but it is a constant effort and strong will that pays off in getting a proper work-life balance and overcoming challenges. Innovations, lateral thinking, and the acceptance of difficulties are the key things a company needs to go through to be successful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
