J Loren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
”I began my speaking career at 19 by delivering fire safety speeches to elementary schools while serving in the US Air Force as a Fire Fighter. Since then, I have spoken for audiences from 14 to 40,000 in five nations face to face and dozens more virtually. As a Dale Carnegie coach and a John Maxwell Team Founding Partner, I have helped entrepreneurs, government officials and Fortune 50 Corporations worldwide learn to lead and communicate more effectively.
The StoryPower Process is the method of training I have personally crafted to engineer attitudes, build brands and develop stronger leaders by tapping into the power of their life experience to craft a vision and message with lasting impact. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While I was competing with the World Championship of Public Speaking at Toastmasters International, I was invited to join the John Maxwell Team. The same month, the air condition system in our home failed, it was not in the budget to replace it especially if I invested in myself and paid to join the team, and travel to Las Vegas to compete in the semifinals. We had a family meeting and everyone agreed to the investment. My family chose to survive eleven months with no heat, no ac, in Texas for me to build my speaking career. It would be the first of many tough choices over the last 15 years.
