Life & Work with Luchi Ajoku of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luchi Ajoku.

Hi Luchi , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey really began with two life-shifting experiences losing my mother to cancer and then being diagnosed with breast cancer twice myself. Those moments forced me to reevaluate everything: my health, my purpose, and the kind of impact I wanted to make in the world.

Professionally, I’ve always been a builder. I started my career in project management and later became a certified Scrum Master, PMP, and Change Management professional. I’ve led technical teams, improved workflows, and delivered projects for large organizations, but I always felt called to do something more purpose-driven.

That calling became clear during my treatments and recovery. I saw firsthand how isolating the cancer journey can be and how much women are searching for community, clarity, and hope. That’s what inspired me to create HikeHER Dallas — a faith-based wellness community helping women heal through hiking, movement, and holistic living — and later Diary of a Breastie, a storytelling platform amplifying the voices of survivors and thrivers.

Both brands grew quickly because they were built from a real place of experience, service, and faith. Today, I’m also building a wellness brand rooted in gut health, “Generational Health,” and stewarding my God-given purpose through education, content, and community.

Everything I’m doing now from wellness events to content creation to launching my podcast is about turning pain into purpose. I’m committed to helping women feel seen, supported, and empowered to live healthy, faith-centered lives.

My story is still being written, but I’ve gotten here through resilience, God’s grace, and a passion for creating spaces that help women heal.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — but every challenge has shaped who I am and the work I do today.

Personally, navigating two breast cancer diagnoses while losing my mother to cancer was one of the most difficult seasons of my life. It affected everything: my health, my faith, my emotional strength, and even my career trajectory. Healing while still trying to show up for life, work, and my goals was a major challenge.

Professionally, building my platforms — HikeHER Dallas and Diary of a Breastie — hasn’t been a straight path either. Managing a growing community while working a 9-to-5, securing funding, building systems, and wearing multiple hats as a founder has required resilience, creativity, and discipline. There were moments I lacked resources, capacity, or clarity, and I had to pause projects to protect my energy and focus.

But every struggle pushed me into deeper purpose. The challenges refined my vision, strengthened my faith, and gave me a level of empathy and leadership that I now pour into my community. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been meaningful and I wouldn’t trade the growth that came from it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Today, my work sits at the intersection of wellness, storytelling, and community building. I’m the founder of HikeHER Dallas, a faith-based women’s wellness community, and Diary of a Breastie, a media platform amplifying the voices of breast cancer survivors and thrivers. I’m also a certified project, program, and change management professional and a two-time breast cancer survivor using my lived experience to educate, inspire, and create transformative spaces for women.

Across all my brands, I specialize in:

Gut health education, faith-based lifestyle change, and “Generational Health”

Storytelling and media, including newsletters, community features, and my upcoming podcast

Community building through events, from healing hikes to art therapy sessions to wellness retreats

Project and change management, bringing structure, clarity, and strategy into everything I build

I’m most proud of the communities I’ve created women who don’t just show up for a hike or a story, but genuinely feel seen, supported, and empowered. HikeHER Dallas has grown into a safe space where women can heal together, and Diary of a Breastie has become a home for survivor stories that often go unheard.

What truly sets me apart is that my work isn’t theoretical — it’s lived.
I’ve survived breast cancer twice, rebuilt my life from the inside out, and turned my own healing journey into a movement that now supports thousands. I lead with faith, empathy, strategy, and authenticity. I understand the medical side, the emotional side, and the spiritual side and I bring all of that into every community I build.

My mission is simple: help women heal, thrive, and steward their bodies in a way that honors God and creates generational health for their families.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Dallas is the blend of ambition, culture, and community. It’s a city full of opportunity whether you’re building a business, connecting with like-minded people, or creating something meaningful. I love how diverse it is, how supportive the wellness and entrepreneurial communities are, and how you can meet people from all walks of life who are driven, creative, and open. For me, Dallas has been the perfect place to build HikeHER, grow my brands, and connect with women who value faith, wellness, and purpose.

What I like least is that Dallas can sometimes feel spread out and fast-paced, which makes authentic community-building a little harder. You have to be intentional to find your people, and not everyone is as focused on holistic living or slowing down. But honestly, even that has pushed me to create the kind of community I wanted to see spaces where women can breathe, connect, and heal together.
