Today we’d like to introduce you to Daelan Jefferson.
Hi Daelan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Daelan Jefferson (Da3lan). I am from Dallas. I started by playing in the church, watching the musicians and mimicking their playing. Coming from a household of a singing mother and a father who played the drums, my experience started early. My grandfather, Bishop Larry Jefferson, trained my ear on the classics from the Motown era. Both of my grandfathers are pastors so my relationship with God is the most integral part of me. My grandfather instilled the same love of music in my mother and all his sons. My mom, Fayth Jefferson is a talented singer and she is the owner of Onee Social (formally Fivee Bistró & Bar) where she blends great food with a musical experience, usually having guest djs and live bands. Safe to say, music and entertainment is in my blood. Even my uncle Bishop Omar Jahwar, who’s known for his work in limiting senseless violence, was a musician and his love of music is the foundation of Onee Social. All of that lead me to be in love with music from a young age, I started playing piano at 8. I then discovered production around 15 and have spent countless hours with both.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but obstacles are to be expected. The most common struggle I feel is staying consistent and motivated. The hardest part is to keep creating constantly and consistently.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a musician and producer. I play multiple instruments: piano,guitar, bass and I compose, produced, mix and master tracks. I cover a multitude of genres such as hip hop, rnb, edm, pop, rock I am most proud of the possibilities and networks I’ve managed to open up for myself as a once timid/shy personality.
I feel what sets me apart is I’ve put in countless hours study musical instrument, music theory, music history and music production so I can combine all those worlds and know what I’m talking about at the same time.
