Life & Work with Robert Shepherd of Garland, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Shepherd.

Hi Robert, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grow up in East Texas and was raised by a single mother of six children (after the death of my father when I was 10 years old). I was the first one of my mother’s children to graduate from high school and to go on to college. After graduating from Texas College (Tyler, Texas) with a B.S. We have two lovely daughters (Tanareca and Desiree) who has blessed us with seven awesome grandchildren (Kirstyn, Landen, Yasmin, Lennox, Skylar, London, and Alani).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life’s journey that has paved the path that allowed me to get to where I am today has not been easy. I have been blessed to have overcome the stereotypes of being raised by a single mother in an underserved low-income community. I was faced with being raised in an environment that did not afford me the opportunity of being exposed to opportunities that others were blessed with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My previous professional experiences in financial services, real estate, and social services have given me the experience with understand and dealing with the hardships that people go through. These experiences have given me the knowledge as a Pastor to better minister to and serve the underserved families in our community.

I am known for being involved, staying busy, being an influencer, a community activist and community engagement agent, family man, a community leader and a Pastor.

I am most proud of my family.

What sets me apart as a Pastor: I am approachable, practical, available, always in the community….

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My wife for her ongoing support, motivation and prayers.

My children for love and support.

My seven grandchildren for keeping me young and for allowing me to spoil them.

The members of Restoration Community Fellowship Church for allow me to pastor them while being myself.

My village of family members, friends, community partners…

God for keeping me.
