Parker Jason of Lancaster , on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Parker Jason shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Parker , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
My typical 24 hours consist of constant pursuit of my best work creatively while balancing fatherhood and self improvement . Most likely on a day to myself , I’m at Arlington’s Inclusion Coffee trying to catch a vibe while maybe avoiding socializing. Depending on my appetite, I’m either grubbing at Cesar’s Tacos or settling for Williams Chicken for sure . Ending it off with some tunes putting me to sleep for the next day . Blessed as usual as well .

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by the name of Parker Jason , hailing from a part of Oak Cliff . I exist as an artist , songwriter , and producer with a bachelors degree in music production from LA Film School.

So far I’ve released multiple songs in the form of EPs written and produced by me independently. I love to follow up with visuals I personally film and edit to provide an artistic experience for my listeners.

At the moment , I’m releasing a trilogy of small projects with 2 currently released .
The titles are “I Promise U I’m Fine” and “But I Do Have My Days” . My intentions are to release the rawest , alternative urban music that sonically expresses my experiences surviving on this big floating rock we know as earth .

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful dates back to me flying to LA to graduate after 4 years . That power stemmed from my act of manifestation and commitment to successfully finishing my program . These last few years have definitely tested my will to complete my program . For me to witness myself make the most of bittersweet circumstances and accomplish a personal goal revealing my drive to be my best . Being proud of yourself shouldn’t be anything less than powerful .

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell younger Parker to embrace his individuality and don’t hesitate to make a move . He only has one shot in life and shouldn’t waste it on others perspective on your potential. He is blessed with musical instincts that he should use to express his experiences in a world that wants to set the standard for you . Parker should remain curious and bold to venture into territories that challenge him for the purpose of growth .

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I’m a sole believer in society providing resources and advice for the next generation of youth to thrive from . Evolving is taking what us well matured adults have learned and pass wisdom onto the youth to better society moving forward. There should be some satisfactory making sure the ones after us become their best selves moving forward.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
As much as I welcome praise , I’ve learned to never let that be the root of your effort . I make music because I genuinely have a love/hate relationship with a form of art in which provides me the space to create in isolation . I’m not the most viral nor commercially established artist with outstanding stream numbers either . If I allowed myself to move off praise or approval , I wouldn’t have pure love for the art form . My role is to provide the vibe and eventually folks will gravitate to the product . I have to be the biggest supporter of what I do .
