Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Joseph Rawls of Dallas, TEXAS

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Joseph Rawls. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
The last time I felt real joy was recently, when I saw the impact my work is having on people, both through my businesses and my creative projects. For me, joy comes in those quiet moments where I realize I’m living in my purpose. Whether it’s dropping a new vlog, helping a client through Rawls Development Group, or building something meaningful with JRAWLSNETWORK, that feeling hits when I see growth, alignment, and progression. It’s the kind of joy that doesn’t come from a single moment, but from knowing I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be and moving toward something bigger.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is J’ Rawls, but most people know me as Joseph. I’m the founder of two growing brands: Rawls Development Group and JRAWLSNETWORK. Rawls Development Group focuses on real-world services like construction, trucking, and handyman work, while JRAWLSNETWORK is the creative side… engineering, graphic design, video production, and my podcast VYBZ+.

What makes my work unique is that everything I do is built from real experience and a real mission. I come from a background of having to create opportunities instead of waiting for them, and now I’m building systems, content, and businesses that help others do the same. I’m passionate about turning ideas into something people can see, feel, and be inspired by.

Right now, I’m focused on scaling both brands from social media impact to real-life infrastructure. I’m building a network, a community, and a legacy… something that represents growth, creativity, and purpose. My journey is all about elevation and alignment, and everything I create reflects that.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The people who taught me the most about work were my grandparents and my mother. My grandparents raised me around farming, discipline, and consistency. They showed me what real work looks like… sunup to sundown, no excuses, just commitment and pride in what you produce. They were great guides, not just in work ethic but in how to carry yourself and stay grounded.

My mother taught me hustle from every angle. She worked multiple jobs, kept the house running, and still found ways to create income on her own. I remember her card games on Friday nights after my football games… that was her way of showing that survival and ambition can coexist. She always did whatever she had to do to make sure we were good.

Together, they taught me the value of discipline, creativity, and resilience. That foundation is what drives everything I do today… from business to creativity to leadership.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me things that success never could. It showed me who really had my back and who was only around to use me. When everything is going right, people show you their best version… but when life gets heavy, you start to see everyone’s true intentions.

Going through hard times made it clear who supported me without needing anything in return and who disappeared the moment I couldn’t benefit them. That clarity became one of my biggest strengths. It taught me how to protect my energy, how to trust my instincts, and how to build with people who genuinely want to see me win.

Success didn’t teach me that… struggle did.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
One important truth that very few people agree with me on is that everyone’s reasons, purpose, and “why” are completely different. A lot of people expect others to move the same way they do or think the same way they think, but life doesn’t work like that.

I believe your purpose shapes your pace, your decisions, your energy, and even the way you respond to challenges. What drives me might not drive the next person, and that’s okay. We all have our own path, our own timing, and our own calling.

Understanding that has helped me stay focused on my journey instead of comparing mine to anyone else’s

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think the thing people will most misunderstand about my legacy is the depth of intention behind it. On the surface, it might look like I’m just building businesses, creating content, or chasing success. But the truth is, every move I make is rooted in purpose, growth, and impact.

Some might think it’s about fame or money, but my real goal is to create systems, opportunities, and inspiration that outlast me. I want people to see the work and the results, but the full story is about the mindset, the discipline, and the vision that made it all possible. That part often gets overlooked, but it’s what I hope defines my legacy.
