We recently had the chance to connect with Deana Elliott Boyd and have shared our conversation below.
Deana, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am intentionally walking in a path in 2025. I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. I choose words. My 2025 words are SEEK HIS PATH. I have made an effort every day so far this year to seek and stay on (LOL) God’s path! He has challenged me this year many times. I feel I am rising to meet His challenges. I am grateful to God for everything! He has blessed me and my business tremendously this year and I will continue to seek His path and give Him all the glory!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi. I am Deana Elliott Boyd a Realtor with Competitive Edge Realty. I was a Paralegal for 20+ years and after leaving that profession was led to go to Real Estate school at 55! I love helping people. I get to do that each and every day and get paid to do it! I believe as a Realtor educating our clients is 80% of my job. An informed client is able to make better decisions. I am building my business, meeting my goals through faith in God, hard work and dedication.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would have to say Harold Elliott my brother has always seen me clearly and yes before I could see myself! He is my confidant. He is always in my corner supporting me and never misses an opportunity to keep me grounded. A/K/A let me get too big for my britches! He has always believed in me!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was absolutely a time I almost gave up. Being in business for yourself and earning commission only after 20 years in the corporate world is terrifying! At the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025 I had a big life changing event which forced me to do some serious soul searching. It was time I either got out of Real Estate or gave my business to God and trusted Him COMPLETELY. I thank God daily I made the right decision to Seek His Path. He reminds me daily it is the only decision for me and had blessed me so much!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My close friends would say that God, integrity, honesty, hard work and helping people matter most to me. I give back to my community by volunteering my time, money and ingenuity to various organizations in Terrell. It gives me true joy!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I truly hope people will tell most about me when I am gone is how much I loved God and wanted others to know Him and I truly tried to be a blessing to at least one person every day!
