We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gabrielle Cherry. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Gabrielle, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
God
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello my name is Gabrielle Cherry and I am a self taught chef. I am the owner of Cherry’s Seafood and More where I provide a different variety of food but most known for my delicious seafood boils/family pans. I’ve had my business for 8 years now 7 years full time. I’m working towards being a full time catering chef and traveling all over the world so I can have as many people to try my amazing food.
When I first started out it wasn’t many on demand seafood restaurants that would deliver to different areas and also not for free lol but that’s what made me different and stand out. I have a sauce that no one could put their fingers on or what exact ingredients I use and til this day they are still trying to figure it out as well as my alfredo sauce. I always try to come up with unique recipes to set myself apart. I became known for my “bourbon street cajun fries” which consists of crawfish meat and shrimp along with a cheese sauce on top of cajun fries.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I always felt different like I didn’t belong but I found out last year “2024” why I always felt different. I had an encounter with God that changed my life forever and He told me who I was and why he set me apart from the rest of the world and that I am His daughter and I should walk in that purpose with my head held high…….
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain last year after having my encounter with God. It gave me a boldness like I never had before and to know the standard is the standard. Once you set the standard for yourself it’s no way around it. It’s better to be truthful about what you stand for and to know there is no bare minimum.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my son the most. He’s 10 but don’t let the age fool you! He’s very smart and articulate. He doesn’t run with a crowd just because and always have to make sure what you say checks out to be factual. His resilience is impeccable and everyday he shows me that I’m doing my job as a single mother the right way
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m having my alone and intimate time with God and the word. Nothing is more important than that! It’s what shaped me into the woman I am today and continues to guide me in the right direction in my everyday life .
