We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kierra Turner. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Kierra, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am forever chasing my dreams, challenges, and goals that I have. If I stop, the purpose of the work I put in would feel pointless.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kierra. Owner and founder of The Sweet Trap Cakery. The most interesting thing about The Sweet Trap is I can help cultivate your idea of what you may want into something suitable and I exceed your expectations.
I started baking and cooking at a very young age. It has always been something I loved.
Originally, I started off as Sweet N Sugar, but the name was too close to another company. I went through ideas and then BOOM the Sweet Trap Cakery was born.
I am currently working on a business plan to open a cake supply store in my area.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I think my relationship with my mom and maternal grandmother has definitely shaped me the most. Being brought up by strong, beautiful women that never gave up and pushed through any obstacles that stepped in their way has been the highlight of my life.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There are times I almost gave up. Twice to be exact. However, when those times came God sent a random customer to order, and made those random customers long time customers. Those customers referred other people to shop with me and the referrals kept coming. That was a sign to keep going.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire Jasmine Crockett. I’m not big on politics but I am big on using a platform to stand up for yourself. I believe she is the epitome of “I AM HER”.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when decorating. From cakes or other desserts to interior decorating. I put on my headphones some good music and decorate.
