We recently had the chance to connect with Kara Frison and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kara, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Catching up with my “little bestie,” as I call her, is always a highlight! One of my best friends has a three-year-old daughter who has just attached herself to me. We live in different time zones, so we frequently send voice memos and videos to each other. Seeing her excitement for life and the love that she has for her family most certainly brings me joy!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kara L. Frison, and I am the founder of Bright-Eyed Solutions. While the majority of my projects deal with proofreading and editing, I also offer administrative support and consulting. With over 15 years of administrative experience, I strive to be thorough in my work. The BES Motto is, “Helping you to see the big picture by remembering the little things.” I am grateful to assist individuals and organizations with polishing their message and producing high-quality written content and events.
Now, I am excited to share my newest writing project- an interactive 30-day devotional for women entitled “Draw Me Close.” This project features heartfelt prayers, relevant scriptures, inspiring music, and thought-provoking reflection prompts for readers to respond to. I’ve also curated a playlist with over 9 HOURS OF MUSIC! Draw Me Close is available in both ebook and paperback formats. My prayer is that this tool will encourage women and strengthen their faith.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My Freshman English teacher, Beth Sherwood most definitely saw me clearly before I could see myself. I remember her grading one of my projects and writing, “You will be published one day.” That has always stuck with me. At the time, I knew I enjoyed writing, but I don’t believe I viewed it as a gift. She really encouraged me to nurture that interest and express myself through words. Over the years, I have been blessed to see how impactful [my] words are.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say, “Don’t limit yourself.” In the past, there were many opportunities that I was hesitant to take. Maybe I didn’t feel qualified. Or maybe I thought, “That’s not my thing.” These days, I’ve leaned in to getting out of my comfort zone to explore my interests, skills, and talents. I wish I had done that when I was younger.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that my relationship with God really matters to me. It is the foundation of my life and shapes the way that I show up in the world. I believe that my purpose is to love God and others. And I aim to use my gifts (such as writing) to help spread that love.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I most certainly feel as though I am doing what I was born to do! In the last few months, I’ve been feeling like I’m embracing a new chapter of walking boldly in my purpose. As I mentioned earlier, I am consistently pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Over the years, I have hosted numerous women’s gatherings and led discussions, but with the release of and response to Draw Me Close, I am watching women dig deeper and reflect on their journey of faith. I am grateful that I pushed past my own apprehension to write and release it. I’m learning not to let a desire for comfort stop me from walking in my purpose- especially as it pertains to using my words (writing, speaking, and/or singing) to help bring hope & inspiration to others.
