Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Laura Wiggins of Dallas

Laura Wiggins shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Laura, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I was recently training a client in the gym, and she had just lifted her heaviest weight ever in a deadlift. As soon as she finished, I started celebrating with her—and she began to cry. In that moment, the accomplishment of what she had just done, combined with the pressure she’d been carrying all day, just released. It was such a beautiful moment and reminded me exactly why I do what I do. Definitely a proud “coach” moment.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve always loved health and wellness, but I didn’t step into full-time coaching until three years ago. My dad had just passed away, and suddenly everything in my life felt uncertain. Fitness became the one constant—it helped me move through grief. In that process, I realized I wanted to do something that truly mattered, something that left people better than I found them. That’s what pushed me to start my coaching business.

I created my program because I grew up stuck in the all-or-nothing trap. If I wasn’t perfect, I’d start over. If I slipped, it felt like the whole thing didn’t count. I spent years cycling through dieting, overtraining, stopping, and restarting—and I know how exhausting that is. What finally changed everything was accepting where I actually was and realizing that consistency always beats perfection and extremes.

Once I experienced that freedom, I knew I wanted other women to feel it too. That’s exactly why I created my program, Balanced Body Framework.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Honestly, it was when my dad passed away. Losing someone so close, so unexpectedly, really put my whole life into perspective. It makes you stop caring about a lot of things that don’t matter, and it forces you to think about what you truly want out of life. That experience shaped the way I approach everything—from my work to my relationships—and made me realize how important it is to focus on what actually matters.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most is the fear of not being “enough.” Not smart enough, not experienced enough, not ready enough. For a long time, it kept me playing small—saying yes to things I didn’t want, saying no to things I really wanted, and second‑guessing myself every step of the way. Once I realized that waiting to feel “ready” was just another form of avoidance, everything shifted. I learned to move anyway, even when I felt unsure, and it completely changed the way I show up in my life and my work.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
For the most part, yes — the public version of me is the real me. I don’t have the energy to maintain a “persona,” and losing my dad made me even less interested in pretending to be anything I’m not. That said, the public version is a filtered version—not fake, just edited. I’m naturally introspective, and I don’t share every struggle or doubt in real time. But being authentic and real is incredibly important to me, whether online or not. What people see reflects my values, my heart for coaching, and my commitment to helping women, even if the quieter parts of my life stay private.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m 100% doing what I was born to do, and honestly, I wish I had started sooner. Deep down, I always knew I was meant to be a health and fitness coach—I just didn’t know what that was supposed to look like. I never imagined being a business owner or entrepreneur either, but now that I am, it fits me perfectly. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. The fulfillment I get from my work, and the ability to directly impact people’s lives, is priceless.
