We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mrs Katrina Beasley. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Katrina, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I feel like in my younger years I was a wanderer, always longing for what else. What else is out there, what else could I be doing, or what could I be doing better. Yet, as I’ve matured, I’ve realized that all wandering roads eventually lead you to where you are destined to be. Its more about the lessons learned on the journey than the final destination. Now, I am very much walking the path that God has destined for me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Katrina Beasley originally from the windy city of Chicago and youngest of four. I graduated from Whitney Young Magnet High School and received my B.S. in English from Illinois State University. I also completed my post graduate studies, earning an MBA in Information Technology Management from Capella University. I’m proud to be part of a Fortune 50 company for 20 plus years and as the CEO of Typify7 Media Company, creator and host of the 7 Figure Girls Podcast and current Executive Editor-In-Chief of SEVENFG Magazine.
I’ve had the absolute pleasure to refine myself in the world of pageantry by having four regional/state titles and I currently hold the national title of Ms. Ultimate All World Beauties United States 2024-2026. I’m also a published author and a developer of people that empowers young women to reach beyond their potential. I’ve held multiple board member positions on several non-profit boards and have received several awards including the SITI GIRL Magazine Editor-In-Chief of the Year 2023, the Speak That Movement 2023 Women of Empowerment Award, I was listed as a 2024 Woman to Watch by Today’s Purpose Woman Magazine and have been featured in Voyage Dallas Magazine, Shoutout DFW and on numerous podcasts.
I’m the most amazing wife to Brandon Beasley, best mom ever to Kenneth , step-mother, aunt, daughter, friends, and etc. I’m all about being of service to others and empowering people to see beyond their potential. If there is a connection to make for others to collaborate, I’m all about making the introductions.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has shaped me the most, refined me, stretched me, grew me, and gave me clarity, guidance and purpose, is my relationship with God.
I’ve been a member of four church communities in my life. I was baptized at the age of 12 and being honest, I attended church, but I didn’t start to study the word until I was 28 years old. Every morning, I would wake up early to read a chapter of the bible, read a devotional, and pray. As I did that, my life began to change for the better and then I would slack off until life happened again and then back to my morning routine again.
Not until 2020, when life happened again, but this time, it was happening to the whole world at the same time, did I start to read the word without ceasing. As the world around me became distant, I found peace of mind, body and spirit. As I sat daily on my balcony with my coffee, bible, highlighters, journal, pen, and listening to gospel music, I cultivated the best relationship. Now my day just isn’t right if I don’t read and pray. The vision and inspiration for my businesses has come from those daily prayers and biblical readings. By far my relationship with God has led me to be a better person, wife, mother, daughter, employee, CEO, and friend. The foundation that I have built with God has provided for every relationship I’ll ever have. It has shaped me to love myself more and allowed me to see how blessed I am so that I may be a blessing to others.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to “be still”. That rushing truly does not get you there any faster. That when you are confused, to be still, think long and hard, but most importantly, pray about it. Do not seek validation from others, seek validation of self and God.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I believe in community and encourage others to build community. I think, some “smart” people like to tell others that hustle culture is the way to go and be. For instance, the quote of “if it doesn’t make dollars, it doesn’t make sense”, irks me to no end. Why has everything become about profit and not community? People push the narrative that everyone needs to have 12 different streams of income and/or that you need to be your own boss. Which both of those can be costly, frustrating, and lead to a hot mess, if its not what you are destined to do or be. What people truly need is a system, a routine, and a way that works from them. Everyone isn’t meant to be an entrepreneur, because if everyone was, how would these businesses be successful. People have to work for others, no one builds a business alone.
Truly smart people realize the importance of community, building and collaborating. Business owners employ people and have products and services to sell. We all rely on each other to provide products and services for purchase. We need to focus on building our communities and not alienating them with the hustle culture message.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I’ll regret not finishing what I’ve started. I’ll regret not giving it my all. Therefore when I do something, I give it my all so I’ll never say “I regret not…”
