Conversations with Clinton Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clinton Palmer.

Hi Clinton, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to Dallas in 2017, not knowing exactly where life would take me. I started out working regular jobs — at Victoria’s Secret and Valero — just doing what I had to do to stay afloat. But my real turning point came when I landed a position at the House of Blues Dallas doing security.

That’s where I really started to find my rhythm. I learned the ins and outs of live music operations from a Live Nation standpoint — everything from crowd control to artist logistics. I worked hard, moved up quickly, and even had the chance to help train and open a new venue out of state, which gave me an even deeper appreciation for what it takes to make live entertainment run smoothly.

After that, I joined Reno’s Chop Shop, working floor security during live shows at Reno’s Live, and then began working at Three Links in Deep Ellum. I started out doing security and door work there but soon worked my way up to barback, and eventually, bartender.

Once I began bartending at Three Links, I also started working security at The Nines Bar, another iconic Deep Ellum spot. I worked hard there too, moving up from security to bartender again — but The Nines was where everything started to click for me socially and creatively.

At The Nines, I became known for something different — my energy. As security, I wasn’t just standing around; I was dancing with guests, hyping up the crowd, and helping people have a great time while still keeping everyone safe. I built a reputation for being the guy who could both handle business and bring the vibe.

People started calling me “Batman” — and the name stuck. It became part of who I am in Deep Ellum. Today, I’m proud to be bartending at both Reno’s Chop Shop and The Nines Bar, two places that have become like home.

I’ve come a long way from those early days, and every role — from security to bartender, from crowd control to community builder — taught me something valuable about people, energy, and what it means to create experiences that last.

I didn’t just find a career; I found a family, a neighborhood, and a persona — Batman of Deep Ellum — that represents the connection between good vibes, hard work, and unforgettable nights.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Ive had to recover from a shattered hip, to unfortunate run ins with the law over Cannabis usage.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main job is bartending, and my secondary passion is acting. Behind the bar, I’m known for always bringing the energy. Whether the place is packed or quiet, I make sure the vibe is right. I connect with people, make them laugh, and help turn a simple night out into a memory.

What sets me apart is that I truly get lost in the moment. When I’m making drinks, I’m in my element — moving with the music, feeling the energy, and making sure everyone around me feels it too. It’s not an act; it’s genuine joy in what I do.

I’m most proud of being part of the Deep Ellum community — a neighborhood that looks out for one another. We protect each other, support each other, and keep the spirit of Dallas nightlife alive. Being part of that circle, and seeing familiar faces night after night, means more to me than any title or recognition ever could.

At the end of the day, whether I’m behind the bar or in front of the camera, it’s all about one thing — connection. Making people feel seen, heard, and part of something real. That’s what keeps me going.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to collaboration, creative projects, and new opportunities — whether it’s in bartending, event hosting, acting, or community events around Deep Ellum and beyond. I love connecting with people who share the same passion for music, nightlife, and creating unforgettable experiences.
