Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisbeth McCarty.
Hi Lisbeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From the time I learned to read and hold a pen, I have been writing stories, poetry, and nonfiction. I was fortunate to have a job for almost 40 years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were no struggles along the way, but I slowed down my free lance writing while I was bringing up my daughter.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a writer, I create all kinds of stories. Some are published, and much of my writing has won awards. I am most proud of winning the OK Bar Association and Oklahoma Indigent Defense System Thurgood Marshall award for my writing in the field of appellate criminal defense.
I am also active as a singer, and sing in 4 choirs, one band, and one trio. Also, I love painting and drawing and word art.
After retiring, I find unusual challenges. Just last year, I walked a local runway for Dillard’s.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood stories is coming in from a hot summer night to get in bed and feel the breeze from the attic fan coming in through the window.
