Rising Stars: Meet Monique Daniels of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Daniels.

Hi Monique, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
If you would’ve told me years ago that I’d be a full-time real estate agent serving families and communities across North Texas, I probably would have laughed and said, “Maybe one day.” Real estate has always been an interest of mine, but the path here wasn’t straight, obvious, or easy. It was a gradual unfolding—one decision, one closed door, and one leap of faith at a time.

My journey actually began about twelve years ago at a real estate investing seminar hosted by Robert Kiyosaki. That seminar was the first time I heard the term “rat race.” He described it as the cycle so many of us live in: going to a 9–5 every day believing it will lead us to wealth and freedom. But the harder truth was that most people spend their entire lives working, retire exhausted, and then realize they never actually lived.

That message woke something up in me.

From there, I immersed myself in books and financial education. The plan was to invest in real estate, build businesses—including a nonprofit—and use real estate as the engine to fund everything. I had vision. I had passion. But I didn’t have capital or access to a mentor. And when you don’t have the resources to take action, even the strongest dreams start to fade.

So life continued.

I built a solid career in the logistics and transportation industry. I worked my way up the ladder—from Regional CSR to Office Manager, Business Manager, and eventually Transportation Manager. I was doing well financially, and I was proud of the life I was providing for myself and my two boys.

But I was tired.

Not just physically tired — emotionally tired. I was working around the clock, six days a week. I was disconnected from the world because my job demanded everything: my time, my mental space, my energy. On the outside I looked successful, but inside I felt like I was just existing.

And that old vision—the one I thought I left behind—kept tapping me on the shoulder.

Eventually, I made the decision to go to real estate school—not to become an agent at first, but to gain MLS access so I could invest smarter. I completed the classes and passed both the state and national exam on the first try—all while still working a demanding full-time career.

When I joined a brokerage, I became what we call a dual-career agent. In theory, that meant balancing my job and my business. In reality, it meant I worked my job and gave real estate whatever energy I had left—and most days, that was nothing.

I told myself: Next year I’ll go all in. But the truth is, nothing changes until you change.

The next year came and went. I got promoted again. More responsibility. Less freedom. And some mornings, it took me an hour just to convince myself to get out of bed.

No one around me knew I was struggling—because I had become really good at performing success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Then, unexpectedly, everything shifted.

Six months after my last promotion, the company laid off the entire staff and filed bankruptcy the very next day.

Just like that — everything was gone.

There was no last paycheck.
No payout.
No severance.
No pension.
No compensation.

Even the 140 hours of vacation time I had earned disappeared overnight.

I lost everything.

I had to cash out my 401(k) just to survive — not because I wanted to, but because I had no choice. I used it to pay bills, keep the lights on, feed my family, and buy myself time to figure out what came next.

Most people would have panicked.

But for me… as shocking as it was… there was also a strange sense of peace.

It felt like God stepped in and said: You’ve waited long enough. Now move. So I did.

My brokerage offered me a part-time job in the office — just enough income to help me bridge the transition while I built my business. I joined the coaching program and began working with a business coach because I knew I didn’t just need motivation — I needed structure, accountability, and a roadmap.

And then, I went all in.

My very first month as a full-time agent, I went on my first listing appointment.

Sixty days later, I closed my first real estate transaction.

And from there — something shifted inside me.

For the next nine months, I closed one transaction every single month.

But beyond the numbers, something much deeper happened:
I found purpose.

I originally stepped into real estate for investing, but somewhere along the way, I fell in love with helping people.

It became more than contracts and closings — it became connection.

I helped people through new beginnings and painful transitions.
Through first-time purchases and final goodbyes.
Through excitement, fear, uncertainty, and joy.

People trusted me with one of the biggest financial moments of their lives — and often, with some of their most vulnerable emotional ones too.

Being able to guide, advocate, encourage, and celebrate with them became the most fulfilling part of my work.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty; serving North Texas.

What makes you happy?
I am proud to be partnered with Keller Williams — a brokerage rooted in community, service, and faith. Through initiatives like Habitat for Humanity, Red Day, toy drives, coat drives, and neighborhood volunteering, I get to give back in meaningful ways.

Serving has always been at the core of who I am—and real estate allows me to serve every single day.

Today, when I look back, I realize the vision I had twelve years ago never died. It just waited for me to grow into the version of myself capable of pursuing it.

I am grateful, humbled, and incredibly thankful that my career isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. I get to help families find home, build stability, and step into the next chapter of their lives.

And the most beautiful part?

I’m just getting started.
