Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathleen Mann.
Hi Kathleen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello there! I grew up in Hurst with a love of all things Disney, Harry Potter, and Star Wars and I never outgrew it. I participated in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World and my love for Disney grew exponentially, but so did my longing for home.
Once I moved back to Texas, I still craved the magic of Disney and Universal, so I started finding ways to create magic at home. I eventually launched Kathleen’s Kingdom – a social media account focused on a lifestyle sparked by magic. I love to share my travel adventures with my followers as well as local experiences in the DFW area. There’s truly no place like home!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definitely been a winding road! There are a lot of self-taught elements to social media and at times it felt a bit lonely. Luckily I’ve found an incredible community online that I know I can be my true self with, and reach out if I ever have questions or just want to have a meet-up at a theme park. I also have a full time job in Fort Worth in addition to running this account, so tying to find the proper balance between relaxing and working can be a bit tricky. I’m so grateful to my husband who is my CFO, photographer, and overall sanity check. This account would not exist without him.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Kathleen’s Kingdom is a space where everyone can show up as their authentic self and be excited about the magic of life, travel, theme parks, and fashion. I love the little community I have created on Instagram and TikTok where I can share tips and tricks about a trip or brainstorm an outfit for the parks. It makes my day when someone says they tried a new drink at a theme park because of me, or they share pictures of an outfit they wore that I recommended.
I am known for my DisneyBounds (outfits) and my hotel room tours when I travel. I feel like I’m also known for being my weird, nerdy, chaotic self and it seems to resonate with people. It’s okay if I’m not someone’s cup of tea, but if I can provide a glimmer of joy or hope for someone then I will feel beyond successful.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My 4th birthday when I received the Disney Store Cinderella Wedding Dress from my parents was absolute magic! Cinderella was my favorite princess and I was OBSESSED with that dress from the moment I laid eyes on it. I felt complete joy in that moment and in every moment after (which was every day because I wore it constantly). I loved to play dress up then, and I still do now – some things never change!
