Today we’d like to introduce you to Janice Carter.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Janice. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been a visionary with a passion for creating, decorating and designing; however, I wasn’t able to utilize those skills as an upper level management official with the federal government sector. After retiring, I enrolled in QC Wedding and Event School and received certification as an International Wedding and Event Planner; thus, birthing Kouture Expressions Unlimited (KEU) in 2012. Since the inception of KEU, I have strived to create indelible memories for a lifetime for my clients by telling their story through décor, pictures, textures and colors. Every event is a production designed specifically for the client.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say it has been a smooth road because I have a passion for what I do; therefore, I allow my love for people and what I do to keep me going; in spite of obstacles that I may have faced. Also, as a former management official, I learned to assess situations and execute problem solving techniques to stifle potential issues, as well as to see “Mistakes” as “Missed Takes” if you don’t use them as learning opportunities.

Kouture Expressions Unlimited (KEU) is an Event Management Company that specializes in Event Design, Theme production and evoking memories, not just at the event; but, for a lifetime. I am most proud of my company because a great deal of our business comes from referrals in which a client attended an event that KEU had designed. I would say what sets of apart is the ambience that we create when doing events. When we return to pack up the event, inevitably, someone always says, “I knew Kouture Expressions Unlimited designed this event because it has your signature look.” We pride ourselves making the client remember the experience through the specialized details that are unique to them.
What were you like growing up?
I was very inquisitive and creative growing up. I always had big picture thinking skills; even though, at the time I didn’t know I was doing that. I look at a process from beginning to end, identifying potential problems that could occur; thereby, maximizing time utilization and problem solving. I was always the leader of the group, appointed by others; not self-appointed. I also loved to write and turned that passion into creating greeting cards and writing specialized poetry.
