Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara Curtis.
Hi Tiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was younger, I’ve always had a passion and love for nails. I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to do this — it’s something that’s been in me for years. At 23, I became a licensed nail tech, and even after five years in the game, I’m still pushing, still learning, and still building the name I know I’m meant to have.
I recently moved back to the city where I first started my nail journey. It feels like coming home and starting fresh at the same time. I’ve been networking, posting, and putting myself out there, but I’ll be honest — building consistent clientele hasn’t always been easy. Still, I show up every day because I know what I’m capable of. I know where I’m going.
I’m a mother, a wife, a creator, a businesswoman, and a woman who refuses to give up on her gift. I’m building Hands of Aqua into a brand that speaks for itself — from my nail work to my Ebook and everything in between. I want my kids to see that their mom didn’t wait for success… she went out and created it.
I’m still on the rise, still hungry, still grinding my way to becoming the next six-figure nail tech and business owner. This is my journey, my purpose, and my promise to myself: I’m going to make it, and I’m bringing my Aqua Babes with me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along my journey as a nail tech, I’ve learned that nothing in life comes easy and every success comes with its own set of challenges. I’ve had to push through a lot of highs and lows, learning how to manage obstacles in a professional way while still staying motivated. One of my biggest struggles was finding my true niche. At times, I felt lost and unsure of where I fit in this industry, but once I finally discovered the style and services that felt most authentic to me, I fell in love with being a nail tech all over again. That passion reignited my drive, and now I’m more determined than ever to grow, prosper, and build a thriving business from it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a licensed nail technician and the owner of Hands of Aqua, where I focus on creating clean, detailed, and long-lasting nail sets that make my clients feel confident and beautiful. I specialize in acrylic nails, structured manicures, and nail care with a strong focus on healthy nail practices. I’m known for my creative and wonderful nail art, my attention to detail, and the way I personalize each set to match my client’s vibe and lifestyle.
What I’m most proud of is staying consistent in my craft even when the journey felt uncertain. Building my brand from the ground up while balancing life as a mother and wife has shaped me into a more disciplined and passionate artist. What sets me apart is the heart I put into my work, my commitment to growth, and the way I genuinely care about my clients’ nail health and experience. I don’t just do nails — I create a space where women feel seen, pampered, and confident through every set.
What does success mean to you?
To me, success is living a life where I’m growing, at peace, and able to provide for my family while doing something I love. It’s not just about money or recognition, but about becoming a better version of myself every day, staying consistent through the tough seasons, and building something meaningful that will outlast me. Success feels like freedom, stability, and fulfillment — knowing that my hard work is turning my dreams into reality and that I’m creating a legacy through my passion.
