Big Time Hoops was founded in 2011 in the Washington, D.C.–Maryland–Virginia (DMV) region, starting as a single local showcase built to elevate youth basketball exposure. What began as a grassroots idea quickly transformed into a movement. Coaches, parents, and athletes gravitated toward the brand’s professionalism, competitive structure, and energy — and Big Time Hoops rapidly outgrew its hometown roots.
Over the next decade, the platform expanded into a multi-state powerhouse, delivering high-impact tournaments and showcases across the country. From the East Coast to the South and Midwest, Big Time Hoops now hosts major events in Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, and more — with each stop attracting a deep pool of talent.
Many signature events consistently draw 100+ teams, creating a championship-level atmosphere where athletes compete in front of packed courts, elevated media coverage, and college-level organization. The brand’s growth is fueled by its commitment to fair play, elite competition, and unforgettable game-day experiences.
Today, Big Time Hoops stands as one of the fastest-growing independent basketball organizations in the nation, serving boys and girls programs from 10U through 18U. With annual national championships, multi-state circuits, and a constantly expanding footprint, the mission remains the same:

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I played basketball, so I used my high school gym to start the events. Big Time Hoops was born in 2011 at Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where it started as a small local league created to give young athletes a competitive and organized place to play. What began with just a handful of teams inside a single high school gym quickly became a spark that ignited something much bigger. The energy, the competition, and the demand for more opportunities turned Big Time Hoops from a simple league into a fast-growing basketball movement.
We’ve been impressed with Big Time Hoops, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
