Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story really began with a diagnosis. I was navigating multiple autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, and constant sensitivity to traditional products. Instead of accepting discomfort as my new normal, I started researching essential oils, botanicals, and natural remedies that were gentler on the body. What started as small experiments on my kitchen counter slowly became a personal healing journey — and ultimately the birth of Oshyn Holistics.
In the early days, I was a full-time educator, a single mother, and a woman trying to rebuild her confidence while managing her own health. Blending oils became therapeutic. Sharing them became transformational. Women kept telling me, “This made me feel beautiful again,” and that was the moment I realized I wasn’t just making products — I was creating experiences of self-love, relief, and empowerment.
Over 4½ years, Oshyn Holistics grew from handmade batches to a luxury brand with a signature black-and-gold aesthetic that reflects exactly what I want every customer to feel: powerful, seen, confident, and cared for. I transitioned out of teaching after 12 years to fully step into entrepreneurship, and today my brand is woman-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned, and inspired by healing with intention. Every formula I create is crafted with sensitivity in mind because I know firsthand what it’s like to need something gentle, effective, and trustworthy.
My daughters have become part of the business, my customers have become a community, and my mission has become bigger than products. Oshyn Holistics is about restoring confidence, elevating self-care, and reminding every woman that she is a Golden Goddess — deserving of luxury, healing, and love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I built Oshyn Holistics while working full-time, raising my daughters, and rebuilding my life. At the same time, I was helping grow the DFW Women’s Club, which eventually led to me becoming President — a role that allows me to pour into other women navigating the same challenges I’ve faced.
There were financial hurdles, long nights, and plenty of moments of self-doubt. I had to teach myself branding, marketing, and business operations while still showing up confidently as the face of my company. Nothing was handed to me — I built this brand step by step.
But every struggle shaped my purpose. The obstacles strengthened my mission to create products and experiences that help women feel confident, cared for, and empowered. The journey wasn’t easy, but it made Oshyn Holistics — and me — stronger and more intentional.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that many people don’t know is that Oshyn Holistics was actually born from a blend of my academic background and my artistic roots. I’ve been a belly dancer since the age of 19, which gave me a deep appreciation for movement, body awareness, and feminine confidence. Later, while pursuing my degree in kinesiology, I spent countless hours in labs studying how the body works — knowledge that still guides how I formulate and understand wellness today.
I went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration and completed the coursework for a doctorate in the same field. I wasn’t able to finish the program due to financial barriers, and at the same time, I experienced a period where I struggled to walk normally. That season forced me to pause and rethink everything. Oshyn Holistics became the bridge that allowed me to fill both a wellness gap and a financial gap during one of the hardest times of my life.
I always say, “The body may be weak at times, but the mind is very strong.” That belief shaped not only my brand but also my purpose. As a result of everything I walked through, I stepped into a new calling as Ylonda the Courage Coach — a motivational speaker, MC, and voice talent dedicated to inspiring others. I want people to know that hard times don’t mean impossible; they simply reveal parts of our strength we haven’t met yet.
Oshyn Holistics, my speaking work, and my leadership all come from the same place: resilience, creativity, and a deep desire to help people rise with courage, no matter what they’re facing.
