Today we’d like to introduce you to MELISSA SALMERON.
Hi MELISSA, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had an admiration for the beauty world. It really started with watching YouTube videos! My favorite makeup artist growing up was Jeffree Star and makeup became my creative escape. It was something that felt natural to me without even trying and truthfully , brows were always the one thing I obsessed over when doing makeup, but I never imagined I’d one day make a living from it.
When brow lamination started becoming popular, especially among the makeup girlies, I became so intrigued. It seemed like something I could learn, so I practiced on my family and friends. The feedback I received meant everything to me and gave me the confidence to slowly start building a business from home.
Overtime The more I realized how much I loved not just doing brows, but seeing how my clients felt afterward. I was able to give them more confidence and bring a smile to their faces! This not only motivated but help me stay dedicated. Before I knew it I was getting referred and building strong connections with my clients. It is a blessing to be able to have clients and have people who trust me and allow me to shape their eyebrows because it is definitely a trust thing
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like any new skill there is always room for growth. It has definitely been a work in progress especially with criticism! Some months are slower than others and finding clientele can be discouraging. I remain positive and stay hopeful that I will stay booked. I have to consistently advocate for myself and be the voice for my business. It can be difficult to find creativity at times especially with outside noise. However, if there is passion there is hope and success comes at the right time. Having a business is not always rainbows and sunshine’s they’re definitely rainy days it just about how you hold yourself up for those days!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Although I love doing eyebrows, I’m a medical assistant at a pulmonary clinic. I’m starting nursing school in the Fall 2026 and I hope to one day open my own shop as an aesthetic nurse alongside a medical director. I’m most proud of the growth I’ve done personally I believe that’s what speaks volumes of an individual. How you bounce back from difficult times and how you learn from mistakes. I have never been perfect and I can acknowledge that part of myself especially when I have to hold myself accountable. I believe that’s what sets me apart from others, pride can be its thing but I come from a humble house and a mother who has done so much for my three siblings
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m huge on being resourceful! I am a bit of a book worm right now I am reading Farenheit 451 & my next book is The women by Kristin Hannah. I enjoy reading books that are about self preservation and empowerment because it helps me not fall too short of my potential!
