Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Bullock.
Hi Erika, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely. My journey into the travel industry didn’t begin with a business plan — it began with a deep love for seeing the world and a natural instinct for creating unforgettable experiences for the people around me. For years, friends and family would come to me for help planning their trips because they knew I paid attention to the details that truly mattered: comfort, ease, culture, connection, and that little touch of luxury that transforms a vacation into a memory.
I officially launched Wander World Destinations because I realized two things:
1. Travel is one of the most transformative gifts we can give ourselves, and
2. Most people don’t have the time, expertise, or insider knowledge to curate the kind of experience they really want.
What started as helping a few loved ones quickly grew into a full-time business built on word of mouth, community, and an unshakeable commitment to caring for people well. Over time, I expanded the brand to include luxury group trips, destination weddings, honeymoons, accessible travel, and personalized itineraries for busy professionals who want the world — without the overwhelm.
Every step along the way has been intentional. I’ve invested in training, certifications, mentorship, and building systems so that Wander World Destinations can offer a white-glove, deeply personalized experience for every traveler. Today, I’m grateful to serve clients all over the country, curate trips that feel like a soft exhale, and build a brand that shows travelers — especially Black women — that luxury, rest, and adventure are absolutely within reach.
My business has grown, evolved, and elevated, but the heart of it hasn’t changed: I truly love helping people see the world beautifully, comfortably, and confidently. And that purpose continues to guide everything I create.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all — and I’m grateful for that. The road to building Wander World Destinations has been meaningful, but definitely not smooth.
Entrepreneurship has a way of stretching you in ways you never expect. In the beginning, I struggled with wearing every hat — marketing, sales, operations, content creation, client experience, finances — all while trying to deliver the level of excellence I knew my clients deserved. There were seasons where I questioned whether I was doing enough, whether the right people were finding me, and whether my business could truly grow beyond me.
Another major challenge was navigating the reality that travel isn’t just logistics — it’s emotion. Clients trust me with their milestone moments, their money, their safety, and their memories. Carrying that responsibility requires a high level of care, organization, and constant learning. I had to build strong systems, streamline my processes, and invest in education so I could confidently support everything from luxury group trips to accessible travel, destination weddings, and complex itineraries.
There were also personal challenges — balancing life, motherhood, relationships, and mental health while running a business that does not pause. I’ve experienced seasons of grief, transitions, and uncertainty, all while still showing up for my clients and believing in the vision God placed in me.
But every struggle taught me something essential:
✨ how to trust my own voice
✨ how to lead with excellence, not perfectionism
✨ how to build a business that supports my life, not consumes it
✨ and how to create a brand that centers rest, luxury, and intention — even as I navigate my own journey.
The road hasn’t been easy, but it has been refining. And each challenge has helped me grow into the entrepreneur, woman, and travel professional I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Wander World Destinations, I curate elevated travel experiences for travelers who value comfort, culture, connection, and a touch of luxury. My work blends strategy, creativity, and deep personalization — because no two travelers are the same, and their travel experiences shouldn’t be either.
I specialize in:
✨ Luxury group travel that feels intimate, thoughtful, and beautifully executed
✨ Destination weddings and honeymoons designed for couples who want romance without the overwhelm
✨ Soft-life, restorative escapes for women who crave ease, joy, and intentional experiences
✨ Accessible travel planning, ensuring individuals with mobility, sensory, or medical needs can explore the world safely and comfortably
✨ Custom itineraries for busy professionals, where every detail is handled with precision and care
I’m known for my white-glove approach — the way I listen deeply, interpret what a client can’t quite articulate, and turn it into an experience that feels seamless from start to finish. My clients often tell me they’ve “never felt so taken care of” while traveling, and that means everything to me.
What I’m most proud of is building a business that doesn’t just plan trips — it transforms how people feel. I’ve helped families take their first vacation in years, brides fulfill their dream wedding abroad, women rediscover joy after burnout, and moms finally rest without guilt. I’ve supported travelers with autism, mobility needs, and medical considerations who were once told travel would be “too hard” — and proved that the world is accessible with the right partner guiding the way.
What truly sets me apart is the intersection of luxury and humanity.
Yes, my clients receive stunning accommodations, elevated experiences, and meticulously crafted itineraries — but they also receive compassion, advocacy, and intentional care. I don’t just plan travel; I create space for people to feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
Everything I do is grounded in this belief:
Travel should feel like an exhale — and everyone deserves that level of ease.
That commitment to thoughtful, inclusive luxury is at the heart of Wander World Destinations and is the reason my clients return again and again.
How do you define success?
For me, success is less about numbers and more about alignment. I define success as the ability to build a life and business that reflect who I truly am — a blend of purpose, freedom, service, and joy.
In my work, success looks like clients returning home from a trip saying they felt cared for, seen, and completely at ease. It looks like a bride walking into her destination wedding with zero stress. It looks like a mom finally resting on a beach after years of putting everyone else first. It looks like a traveler with accessibility needs feeling safe, confident, and empowered.
On a personal level, success is having the flexibility to show up for my family, nurture my own well-being, and create work that feels meaningful, not just transactional. It’s being able to say “yes” to opportunities that stretch and elevate me — and “no” to anything that pulls me out of alignment.
I also define success by impact. If my work helps someone see the world differently, take a leap they’ve been afraid of, celebrate a milestone beautifully, or simply breathe a little deeper… that is success to me.
Ultimately, success is the freedom to design a life rooted in intention — and to help others do the same through the experiences I create.
