Life & Work with Kandyce McCracken of Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kandyce McCracken.

Hi Kandyce, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Community Nativity is hosted by 8 local congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Carrollton, Coppell, and Lewisville.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the event. The Community Nativity celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ through displays of crèches and musical performances. We want to share our belief in Jesus Christ and see the impact Christ’s birth has had on the world. In the 20 years we have welcomed over 58,000 visitors to view the exhibit.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This exhibit has grown from displaying 500 sets with 900 visitors to some years displaying nearly 1,000 nativity sets and over 4,000 visitors.

It is all put on through volunteer efforts and takes about 1700 hours of labor. The church’s gym is transformed in 72 hours to a breathtaking spectacle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
This event is sponsored by local congregations for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
