Hi Amberlee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Am’s Royal Cookies is a small baking business I started in summer 2019. I was a stay at home mom of two at the time and wanted to find a creative hobby to do on my spare time, so I tried making Royal Icing cookies to give to close friends and family for feedback. Needless to say all of them fell in love with my cookies so as fall approached I began to take more orders, attracting event planners and local businesses that were in need of business logo cookies. By 2020 I was participating in pop ups around dallas for worth and selling out of my custom cookies! They were a hit! As business continues to grow, so did my family and over the course of 5 years I had two more kids. I managed to keep Am’s Royal cookies booked and busy through it all. In 2021 I gained clientele with business like Hilton Hotel and Louis Vuitton.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy, especially when trying to raise children and manage life at home. Sometimes I would find myself wanting to take breaks for months from baking but I would be in demand and never wanted to let returning customers down so I would take orders, even on the rough days.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create edible art on sugar cookies.
I’ve always been creative and found a love for art in my early childhood. I’m very proud of how far Ams Royal Cookies has come. The first few years I was making around 2,000 cookies a year. This year (2025) I’ve baked and decorated over 10,000 cookies. As a small business owner and stay at home mom utilizing my art as a side hustle I consider that to be a huge accomplishment.
What matters most to you?
That is such a tough question.
When it comes to life taking care of myself, my mental health, physical health and being the best mom I can be for my kids matters the most. My kids mean the world to me. I enjoy baking but I feel like it will always be a hobby and side hustle and I have no intention to make it anything more than that. Enjoying precious moments in life are far more important.
