Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarina Schick.
Hi Sarina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I worked at Neiman Marcus in the Jewelry department in my late 20s for about 10 years. I left when my oldest son was born. After that a friend and I started a business together selling jewelry. We had the company together for about seven years until she moved to another state. I then opened my own company designsbysarina focusing on handmade jewelry. The jewelry is primarily made by me but I also carry handmade jewelry from other designers in Israel and around the world. I happened to be visiting friends and family in Israel October 7th, 2023 so it is very important for me to support Israel.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would not say it is easy owning your own business, but I am very grateful for my friends and clients who have supported my business along the way. Also my happy place is making jewelry.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in wire wrapped jewelry, silver, or gold filled. I focus on beads that are different and colorful. I have a very wide variety of jewelry so I hope to appeal to all different tastes. I think my original large earrings that have the wire wrapping and stones on them would be one that I am the most proud of, but honestly I love all the pieces. What sets me apart is that I really know what people like and their tastes. I think I’m very good with color combinations and knowing what suits each client.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I love to interact with people. I am very much a people person. I think if you are in this business, you need to enjoy talking to people and making connections.
