After Hello was built at the intersection of two very different but deeply complementary professional paths. I spent 14 years practicing law , including seven years as an Assistant District Attorney, before becoming a certified life and relationship coach in 2014. Through the lens of my professional background, I saw firsthand how many singles were overwhelmed by today’s dating landscape. It wasn’t that they couldn’t meet people; it was the time demands, app fatigue, and the inconsistency that comes with unvetted matches. They wanted a more thoughtful, efficient, and trustworthy way to date, and that’s what inspired me to launch the first iteration of this matchmaking company.
Maria, who later became my co-founder, brought nearly two decades of experience in business consulting, remote recruiting, and operations leadership. She had a proven track record of building and scaling brands nationwide, creating systems that support both organizational health and personal well-being. When we met, it was immediately clear that our skills fit together seamlessly: my background in human behavior, coaching, and conflict resolution, and her expertise in building teams, processes, and national reach.
In 2023, we joined forces to expand and rebrand as After Hello with a shared mission: to bring intentional, values-driven matchmaking to singles across the country. What began as a boutique service evolved into a nationally operating firm with a focus on high-quality recruitment, curated matches, and holistic dating support. After Hello now offers three core services: personalized matchmaking, dating app management, and date coaching. Our services combines human intuition, thoughtful psychology, and professional-grade systems to help clients find partners who truly align with their vision, values, and lifestyle. We also maintain a free, private singles registry that allows us to connect with high-quality singles nationwide.
Ann and Maria now work day-to-day overseeing their talented team of matchmakers and coaches, leading a company rooted in connection, clarity, and meaningful relationships.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building After Hello has been incredibly rewarding, but it hasn’t been effortless. We made the decision to expand nationally without investors, which meant building our own systems, hiring the right team, and protecting the boutique, personal experience we’re known for. Scaling while keeping that level of personalization has been one of our biggest challenges, and something we are very proud to have accomplished.
In addition, dating culture has also shifted dramatically in the last few years. Technology and AI have changed how people meet, communicate, and even make decisions about potential partners. To keep up, we’ve had to adapt in very tangible ways. We created stronger systems for vetting compatibility, built internal tools to manage client momentum, and trained our team to help clients cut through the noise of endless digital options. It’s required constant adjustment, but it’s also reinforced why personalized, human matchmaking matters more than ever.
