Rising Stars: Meet RaKeisha Williams of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to RaKeisha Williams.

Hi RaKeisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always had my hands in everything. Cooking and Baking has been the best ones. My Great Grandmother in Ruston, La taught me how to cook. She was the best. Then my grandmother in Houston, TX taught me a little as well. Since I could remember cooking has saved me from a lot of things. From school, to real life events. Keeping a roof over my head being one of them. Of course I’m my biggest critic and fan lol, and as I’m starting out I hope you become one too. Styles of Creolan isn’t just about Cooking and Baking either. I also Crochet. I’m a work in progress but so far I can make bags, hats, scarves. Just keep a look out for me. I’ll be making and creating so much more. From keeping you full, to dressing you up lol.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ohhhhhhh, I have been so nervous. They say “ it’s nothing to it, just jump out there”. And I’ve been trying. I’ve hosted a few parties of my cookings, and joined a few pop up events. Honestly, I am building myself as I build my brand. Learning things about me, about the business, how to manage finances, clients, partnerships. It’s a lot that comes into place but, the way things are lining up. I pray I have everything and more for my Food.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now, I work in customer service, but when I’m not.. I’m buying ingredients to cook. I get better each day. Now I’m working on homemade cakes. Finding the perfect cake texture. Trying to make pastries, tarts, croissants!!! I love bread!! I’m really proud of myself in to committing to my cooking and baking. Being the best I can be.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Patience. If cooking and baking has taught me anything. It’s that it takes time. You can’t rush the process. The results will differ every-time, but it’s how you face those results that makes your master piece worth while. Know that with each step every one is important. To adjust, some things in cooking makes you uncomfortable, it stretches you. Pushes you to your limits and beyond. Passion, to always have passion for cooking, for baking, for serving. The looks of others, the validation that my passion of wonderful to you, with each plate served.
