Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Malouf.
Hi Lindsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My professional journey hasn’t been linear—it’s been shaped by resilience, reinvention, and an unwavering belief in the power of thoughtful spaces. I founded Dwell Interiors Staging & Design Co. in the middle of the pandemic, at a time when uncertainty was everywhere. What I had was a clear vision, a strong work ethic, and the determination to build something enduring.
In the early days, I did everything myself—designing, staging, marketing, managing finances, and even moving furniture. Building credibility was one of my earliest challenges, particularly in a competitive, design-forward market like Dallas, where both presentation and livability matter. Through staging, I learned how to tell a story that allows buyers to emotionally connect to a home. Through design, I learned how to create spaces that support the way people truly live. Together, those disciplines became the foundation of my work.
Clients entrust me with more than homes—they entrust me with major life moments, investments, and transitions. I approached that responsibility with care, intention, and an uncompromising standard of quality. There were moments that pushed me well beyond my comfort zone and lessons that came through experience rather than ease. Instead of stepping back, I leaned in.
Those challenges refined my eye, strengthened my business acumen, and shaped me into a more confident designer, stager, and entrepreneur. As the company evolved, I learned the importance of delegation, strong systems, and cultivating a team that shares the same values and attention to detail. Today, our work spans both the Dallas luxury real estate market and private residences—partnering with agents to elevate listings while also helping homeowners create spaces that feel intentional, personal, and timeless.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been completely smooth, but every challenge has played a role in shaping the business and the leader I am today. Starting a company during the pandemic required adaptability, resourcefulness, and a willingness to make decisions with limited information. In the early stages, balancing creativity with the operational demands of running a business—from logistics and inventory to finances and client expectations—was a constant learning curve.
Another challenge was building trust and credibility in a competitive, high-expectation market. Whether staging homes for sale or designing spaces for homeowners, I learned quickly that success depends on clear communication, strong systems, and consistent follow-through. Managing growth while maintaining quality was equally important, especially as demand increased.
As the company evolved, learning when to delegate, how to scale thoughtfully, and how to build a reliable team became essential. Those challenges required patience and humility, but they also strengthened the foundation of the business. Looking back, each obstacle reinforced the importance of preparation, adaptability, and staying grounded in the values that define my work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
DWELL Interiors is known as a high-end staging and design firm built on integrity, intention, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. From the beginning, my goal was never to simply furnish a home—it was to elevate it. In staging, we focus on creating an experience that allows potential buyers to emotionally connect and envision a life within the space. We don’t just stage homes to look beautiful; we create a feeling that makes potential buyers fall in love.
What truly sets our staging apart is the level of intention behind it. We customize each stage to reflect the architecture, finish-out, and scale of the home. Because we own all of our inventory and house it within our 13,000-square-foot warehouse, inventory availability is never a limitation. This allows us to curate cohesive, layered environments that feel natural to the space—never pieced together or generic. Every stage is thoughtfully designed to enhance the home’s story and elevate its best features.
Transparency, honesty, and trust are at the core of how we work. We’ve grown the business by building strong, lasting relationships with agents, homeowners, and builders, and I’m most proud that our reputation has been built organically—through consistency, follow-through, and the trust of the people we serve.
On the design side, our work is rooted in collaboration. Often, homeowners come to us knowing how they want to feel in their space but not exactly how to articulate it. Through thoughtful listening and relationship-building, we help translate that feeling into spaces that are timeless, personal, and livable—homes our clients can truly fall in love with and enjoy for years to come.
Some of the most meaningful projects are tied to life’s biggest moments: first-time homebuyers stepping into their very first home, families creating spaces where memories will be made, or designing nurseries for parents preparing to bring home their first child. Those moments are sacred to me, and I never take that responsibility lightly.
I’ve built DWELL Interiors with passion and heart, and I approach every project—whether staging or design—with the same level of care and intention. What sets us apart is not just our aesthetic, but the experience we create from start to finish. At the end of the day, I’m most proud of building a brand people trust—one that creates not only beautiful spaces, but environments where life happens and memories are made.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve always approached risk with intention and responsibility. When I first started DWELL Interiors, I was a single mom building the company entirely with my own resources. There was no outside funding or safety net—every decision carried weight, and every dollar mattered. That reality shaped how thoughtfully I approached growth from the very beginning.
Rather than taking on debt, I chose to reinvest profits back into the business, allowing it to grow organically and sustainably. Investing in brand-new inventory, expanding into larger warehouses over the years, and building a team were significant commitments, but they were aligned with my long-term vision for quality and integrity. Each step forward required trust in the process and confidence in the foundation I was building.
To me, risk isn’t about taking shortcuts or chasing rapid growth. It’s about making disciplined, values-driven decisions—even when they’re uncomfortable. Looking back, those early risks taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of building strong relationships. They’re the reason DWELL Interiors stands where it does today.
