CAMERRON, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Dallas is the place where I grew from a boy into a man. I’ve lived all over Dallas except West Dallas. From K through 12th, I’ve watched the shift in Dallas music, and I was inspired by my city. We have so much talent here, and I just want to do my part by bringing my vision to the scene.
I started S.A.N.G. because of the lack of interest in singers in Dallas and in Texas . Right now, it’s the rappers’ time to shine — and I love seeing all those brothers win. They deserve the spotlight, especially since so many before them should have gotten their chance but it wasn’t our time yet. Now it is, at least on the rap side.
With that being said, the city still needs balance, and we’re just trying to provide that by bringing a platform with a different format and a fresh approach.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To be honest, if everything was smooth, I’d be worried. It’s been bumpy — from no-shows to financial worries and more. But I’m still blessed, and I’m not ashamed of my life lessons, because my story could help others.
