Today we’d like to introduce you to Rothstein Beatz.
Hi Rothstein , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into music started from a genuine love for sound and storytelling. I began producing by teaching myself, studying records, and breaking down what made songs feel timeless rather than just trendy. Early on, I wasn’t focused on chasing placements or attention; instead, I focused on developing my ear, strengthening my work ethic, and creating a sound that felt authentic to who I am.
As I continued to grow, my production gained traction, leading to collaborations with artists such as Papoose, Trev Rich, Miesha of 702, and others. One major milestone was collectively surpassing one million streams across projects I’ve produced for various artists. In 2023, I became a Grammy voting member, which validated years of consistent work behind the scenes.
Beyond producing, I’ve expanded into building platforms and creating opportunities for others. I run Casino Gang Records, host the Roth Talk Podcast, and founded the Rothstein School of Beatz, an after-school program dedicated to teaching kids music production, with plans to expand nationally. Everything I do is rooted in authenticity, ownership, and long-term impact. I see my career not just as making beats, but as building a legacy that empowers artists, producers, and the next generation of creators
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most independent producers, I faced long periods of being overlooked, inconsistent income, and having to invest in myself without any guarantees of return. There were times when the work was there, but the recognition wasn’t, and times when I had to balance creativity with the realities of business, ownership, and survival.
Another major challenge was learning the business side of music the hard way, like contracts, publishing, royalties, and protecting my work. I’ve experienced situations where opportunities didn’t turn out as promised, which forced me to become more informed, disciplined, and strategic. Staying consistent while navigating industry politics, shifting trends, and personal responsibilities was also a test of patience and faith.
Those struggles ultimately shaped how I move today. They pushed me to value ownership, build my own platforms, and create opportunities not just for myself, but for others coming up behind me. Every obstacle reinforced the importance of staying authentic, focused, and committed to long-term impact rather than short-term wins.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a music producer and host. I specialize in crafting records that are artist-driven and timeless. My production spans multiple genres, but it’s always rooted in strong musicality, emotion, and identity. I’m known for having a distinctive ear, being adaptable to different artists, and bringing structure and vision to a record, not just a beat.
What I’m most proud of is building everything independently, earning industry respect, surpassing major streaming milestones, becoming a Grammy voting member, and creating real impact without compromising my values. What sets me apart is that I don’t just produce records; I build ecosystems. I understand both the creative and business sides of the industry, and I’m intentional about legacy, ownership, and empowering the next generation rather than just chasing moments.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Saturday mornings were spent cleaning the house with my parents, brothers, and sister. My mom would put on classic oldies, and we’d dance while we cleaned. That experience is what I believe sparked my musical journey. Hearing artists like Sade and The Isley Brothers at such an early age gave me a deep appreciation for real music, melody, and feeling.
