A recent moment that made me both laugh and feel proud was when one of my customers sent me a message saying, “Girl, your detox tea had me running but now my stomach is the flattest it’s ever been!” | laughed because the honesty was hilarious, but I also felt deeply proud. Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I look back on where I came from Oak Cliff, in the south side of Dallas ,I see a girl who had to grow up fast. Life out there wasn’t soft, it made you either strong or silent. I chose strength. At sixteen, I was already hustling, doing hair in my grandma’s kitchen, turning nothing into something. I learned how to make money with my hands, from being a street Hustler , Selling Drugs to being , a stripper I learned how to build from something out of pure will.

But that hustle didn’t stop there. I got caught up in other ways of making money too, ways that came with risk but that also taught me survival. I was good at whatever I put my hands on, because I had no choice but to be. Every move I made back then taught me discipline, hunger, and how to never depend on nobody.

In my 20s, I lost my grandmother and that was the moment that completely changed me. She was my rock strong, fearless, and never one to complain, even when she was working double shifts as a teacher and a nurse aide.

When I was younger, I used to watch her move through life with so much strength and grace. No matter how tired she was, she never gave up. She worked hard every single day, balancing everything and still showing love to everyone around her.

After she passed away from bone cancer, something in me shifted. It broke me in ways I can’t even explain, but it also opened my eyes. I realized life was too short to keep repeating the same old patterns. That’s when I made the decision to leave the streets behind and start building something real for myself.

Her strength became my reason to grow. I moved to Plano, started selling clothes, , and shoes , purses Thats when I Started my Own Boutique business Called BaddGurls Boutique that was located in a Suite off North of Central Expressway. That’s when I really began becoming me.

Everything I went through the struggle, the streets, the pain it made me tougher, wiser, and more focused. It made me believe that I could turn any situation into success. Now, when I look at where I am, I know that every part of my past was preparation. Oak Cliff raised me, but my grind and my faith made me who I am today.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes more than once. There was a time in my life when everything felt heavy at the same time. I was trying to work, keep myself together, build a business, take care of people around me, and still fight my own silent battles. It felt like life kept knocking me down faster than I could stand back up. I remember sitting alone one night thinking, “Maybe I’m not built for this… maybe I should just stop.”

But something in me wouldn’t let me quit. I thought about how far I’d already come, all the things I survived that were meant to break me, and all the people I wanted to inspire by showing that you can rise no matter what you come from. I realized quitting wasn’t an option not for the woman I was becoming.

That moment taught me resilience in a deeper way. It showed me that sometimes you don’t need to have everything figured out you just need to keep going. And every time things get tough now, I remind myself: I didn’t come this far to fold. I came this far to win.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes but it’s only one layer of me. What people see publicly is my strength, my confidence, my hustle, and the part of me that refuses to give up. That version is real, but it’s built on top of everything I’ve survived, the quiet moments, the healing, and the sacrifices nobody sees.

Behind the scenes, I’m softer, more reflective, and more protective of my peace. I carry my past, my growth, my faith, and the lessons that shaped me. I just choose to share the parts that inspire others and help them believe in themselves.

So yes, the public version is me but the private version is the reason she exists. Both sides are real; one just lives louder.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think the biggest misunderstanding about my legacy will be how “easy” people assume my success was. From the outside, people will see the confidence, the brand, the products, the impact but they won’t fully understand the battles, the losses, the rebuilding, and the discipline it took to get here. They might think I just woke up one day and became strong, when in reality, my strength was shaped by everything I had to survive.

People may misunderstand my softness too. I’m bold, I’m driven, and I carry myself with confidence, but my legacy is rooted in compassion, faith, and the desire to help people heal the way I had to heal myself. My story isn’t about perfection it’s about perseverance.

At the end of the day, my legacy isn’t just about what I built. It’s about who I became while building it.
