Meet Cleopatra Morgan of Crandall, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cleopatra Morgan.

Hi Cleopatra , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ll be 49 in February and I’m from Bastrop, Louisiana. I was raised by a teen mom until the age of 14 alongside my sisters. I was the middle child. My mother got married when I was 14. My mother raised her daughters in the fear of the Lord and we were faithful members of a local COGIC church. I got married at 19 years old but within the first 6 months infidelity destroyed the covenant. I attempted to make it work for at least another 2 1/2 years before I called it quits. My oldest son was a product of this marriage and about three years later I connected with another young man and gave birth to my second son. By the grace of God, I raised both of my sons as a single mom while working multiple jobs within the healthcare industry and attending college. I also raised my sons to have a relationship with God. And they have blessed me with two adorable grandsons. After many credits and student loan debt, I received an associate degree in Travel, Exposition and Event Management. At 20 years old, God called me to preach through a dream. I preached my first official sermon in 2009. One day, I heard God tell me to minister to the youth within the prisons and I asked him how. And He was like Google it so I did and contacted the chaplain who I spoke to for a brief moment. He told me that he would call me later that day which he did and the rest is history. For over ten years, I shared the gospel of Jesus Christ within the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Later, I was encouraged to become an approved volunteer for Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I had an opportunity to serve with another prison ministry for over a year. We ministered to the female adult population which was new territory for me. After discontinuing my service with this particular ministry, I focused more on building my relationship with God and experiencing both spiritual healing and deliverance. In 2022, God began to speak to me again about relaunching my prison ministry and serve the female adult population. At first, I tried to avoid it by being partially obedient. I began hosting a couple of women gatherings in my home in 2023. By the end of 2023, I stopped being disobedient and gave God a surrendered yes and relaunched my prison ministry as Game Changers Prison Ministries in May 2024. Through this ministry, we’ve been blessed to bring hope within the walls of both East Texas Treatment Facility and Hobby Unit. We have had the opportunity to win hundreds of women to Christ while encouraging, empowering and inspiring them. We also host hygiene drives for the women. In 2026, we will be serving a total of three facilities within the state of Texas. God is also building my team with those who have a heart to serve others. Im always asked why am I so passionate about prison ministry. My answer is simple, God birthed it out of my pain. I’m also committed to my local church where I serve on the prayer team, guest service team and a co-manager of the women’s ministry.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth ride. My number one challenge is me. Struggling with low self esteem and fear of rejection caused me to sometimes sabotage what God wanted to do through me. Because I didn’t fully understand my identity in Christ and my self worth, I have allowed temptation and sin to cause me to compromise in my faith. I have also allowed the spirit of comparison to make me feel unworthy or less than. And maneuvering through as a divorced single mother was a challenge for me. And I’ve always felt like I was delayed and always trying to play catch up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m currently a bodily injury claim adjuster at Geico. I’m most proud of the fact that I stepped out on faith in 2021 to become a licensed adjuster. I had to quit my healthcare job to take a leap of faith. What set me apart from others on my job is my faith in God.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My faith and my prayer life, my loyalty and support
