Over The Moon Furniture Consignment is a hidden gem right here in Parker County. The store is located in Weatherford, Texas, nestled in-between Home Depot and Hobby Lobby. It just celebrated its 6-year anniversary in September.
Upon entering, you will find a large assortment of high-end quality furniture, home décor, wall décor, original art, lighting, rugs, jewelry, holiday décor, designer clothing, and western attire.
It is so exciting to see so many beautiful things that are priced for resale not retail.
D.D. Taylor is the owner and had lived in Denton for 45 years before moving to Parker County 8 years ago. She is married, has 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Impressive to say, the stores Grand Opening was on her 60th birthday!
A little background:
D.D.’s husband, Bill, is a trim contractor(since retired) that had started working with home builders in the Fort Worth area so it made sense to make the move for him to be closer. They found the perfect home in Hudson Oaks. After the move, they went looking to purchase an office desk for his home office. They ended up in a consignment store. When he asked her if this was the kind of store she wanted to open (and almost had in Denton) she said yes. He then told her to do it. That is all she needed to hear. And thus began a journey. Praying, scouting locations, researching everything, and then finding the perfect spot that came alive after years of neglect. The building had been a 16-room hair salon that was dark, smelly, and full of challenges. She fell in love and soon put her creative juices to work. OTM opened in September 2019.
D.D. is very creative. One of her passions is recycling jewelry into new wearable art, which she sells in her store. She spent 10 years selling items on eBay which eventually led her to sell for others. In 2009 she started a successful estate sale business and served over 90 families before moving here. She could not shake the feeling that God had something new and exciting in store for her. That turned out to be a store!
God is a huge part of her life’s journey, and had prepared her for years for such a time as this. She knows that this is exactly where he wants her to serve.
Her family and husband have been such a blessing with all their love & support. Bill does handy man work around the store and her daughter Maddy heads up the stores newest venture, Unique Boutique, selling designer clothing and accessories. She said that the thing she loves most about this business is 100% the people. All the customers and currently over 900 consigners. Many have become her new best friends.
Check out the store on Facebook. facebook.com/otmconsign, where she keeps pictures of new arrivals updated weekly.
The store offers a 24-hour hold on most items, free 30-day layaway, lamp repair services and 120-day consignment. Stop in to meet D.D. and her staff, who are always happy to help you find just the right item you are looking for or something you didn’t even realize you were looking for. But, come in often because things change fast around there!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was easy finding the location. I had often passed by this building and thought it was really cool. It had been a 16 room hair salon that had been vacant for 6 years. It was dark, dirty and smelly. It was perfect!
The demo part could have run smoother. The contractor was not professional and caused me a lot of stress. Good employees were hard to find in the beginning but since then, I’ve been very blessed to have amazing people working with me.
I had no idea what I was doing. Had no mentors. No clue how to properly run a business. I only knew that my heart and prayers were in the right place. Many trials. Many lessons. I’m a better person because of it all. I wouldn’t change a thing. I really do have a great community that I am serving!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work consists of working with consigners to sell their wares. Staging, pricing, advertising and selling items. Also, to serve the customers that come in. I have a great amount of repeat business. The store changes inventory fast so they know they need to come in often to see what’s new.
I specialize in problem solving and being a great listener. I know my inventory and give personal service to everybody.
Many call Over The Moon their favorite store! That is a delight every time I hear it! My store is clean, organized and customer friendly.
I could have bought a consignment store franchise but I didn’t want anyone telling me how to run my store. I’m a rebel that way. 🙂
I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to grow and learn. And how the store has grown in ways I never saw coming.
I know I can now mentor a small business owner and give encouragement.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To be patient. With customers, consigners and employees. And myself.
